Default [Q] How to *EASILY transfer files from Nexus 4 running Cyanogenmod 11 to PC (Ubuntu)

I just want to connect my phone to my PC with a USB cable and get all access to files on the phone. I don't want to use AirDroid, I don't use, nor trust, any cloud services. I just want to get my nandroid backups, and other various backup files onto my computer quickly and easily. I know since JB that the file system has changed for security, but for F*@& sake there has to be a simple way to do this.

I have other work arounds using my wifi network and using ES file explorer, but it is much slower than a direct connection.

adb push/pull does not work either.

All other reasonable suggestions welcome.

I am not able to access the files from the computer for the backups created in TWRP up or the files created through MyBackup Pro, and adb pull gives me the error "does not exist." The files are protected and computer cannot read them. When trying to access through Nautilus (file explorer) they just don't even show up.

So.... apparently updating and restarting my computer, restarting my phone, and then eating a sub fixed a problem I've had since Jelly Bean... WTF?

Whatever, now suddenly I can drag and drop.
