I've unlocked bootloader and installed CWM Recovery v6.0.4.7, when I choose to either reboot or turn off device I receive the following message:
"Root access possibly lost. Fix?
THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE

- NO
- Yes - Fix root (/system/xbin/su)

Should this be expected & if not is there a required fix for it?

Yes, it usually like that with cwm but that doesn't mean your root is lost. Anyway, it is annoying and I would suggest you use latest twrp. No such issue with twrp

Thank you, I'm relieved because I thought that I might have botched the root process.
