Default [Q] Water Damage

So last week my Nexus 4 entered the pool with me(no idea why swim trunks have pockets...).

Anyway I was finally able to take it apart and install a new battery after cleaning with alcohol today. It was such a pain to take off the cover but after that it was easy.

I've run some tests on things that commonly go wrong with the device after it's been exposed to water, my speaker works fine. Both cameras and the flash works fine, and my storage is okay. The mic works great and it charges.

The only two problems are that the volume buttons do not appear to be changing the volume, anybody know why this could be?

Also the screen has an edge around it about 3/4 of an inch thick all the way around that just looks like water damaged. Is there any way I could clean that out or do I need a new LCD and digitizer?
