Contacted Google today. They are aware of the issue. The employee I spoke to, advised to wait for the 4.4.4 update (no release date published yet unfortunately) as his understanding was that this update would fix it. If not, he advised to contact them again immediately to get it sorted out. Hope this helps.

Did you get the update via OTA?

Yes, I was still on 4.4.2 and got the OTA notification that 4.4.4 was ready to be installed.

Try playing with the network modes.. That was impossible in 4.4.3... I am not in NL at the moment, so I cannot test mine on Ziggo Mobiel..

Unfortunately I cheered too soon... I was in France, so I could only establish that the setting for 2g/3g/4g was no longer greyed out. With Ziggo Mobiel (also on Vodafone network) no mobile data at all on Nexus 7 (2013) LTE with Android 4.4.4
