I have just purchased a Nexus 7 2012, i haven't received it yet so I'm not sure what version of Android is on it. I would like to root the nexus and install CyanogenMod on it. What I'm asking for is a list of things I need to do in order to accomplish this task! Tips, links and how to's will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! NEITHER I NOR XDA ARE responsible FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR ON YOUR DEVICE!!!

1) Set up ADB and the drivers from Google: http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
2) Boot into Fastboot by holding volume down (-) and power for 20 sec
3) Connect it to the PC and type fastboot oem unlock
4) Install a custom recovery like twrp: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/grouper/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-grouper.img type: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-grouper.img
5) Download the latest CM nightly or snapshot: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=grouper
and do a full wipe
6) place it into your device and flash it via recovery
7) install gapps from here: http://paranoidandroid.co/gapps/
8) You're done

Note: This is the proccess in a very short how to. If you need any further help ask the forum :)
