Get a Cupcake brand Mastercard (from Shopper's Drug Mart). Brand matters, I know this one works.
Go to the US website, 'Register Your Card', put in a ZIP code (I used 90210).
Supply whatever name, address to Wallet. It might check that the State is right, so use California. Cupcake just verifies that the ZIP code is right.

The exchange rate was pretty competitive (I spent some, I can't confirm whether they'll give you 50 USD). I used it at Tim Hortons, Rexall, no problem, and it seems to exchange at about parity (1 CAD = 1 USD). The only pain is that these cards cost 5$ in addition to the balance.

On a side note, can someone port the new Wallet app? The receipts look a lot more useful
Is it called cupcake?
I asked for that brand and they told me they don't have any called cupcake

Default Wallet version v1.0-R33v4 (oct 14 release) status

I think that's the v1.0-R33v4 version that I'm working on. Having a problem getting it to recompile though... Will try to work on it a bit today, but work is getting in the way

Hmm.. just tried at a Whataburger with Pay Pass and I couldn't get the thing to read my phone. I tried opening the app but it didn't work. I have $40 on the prepaid card and the little icon is green. I also double checked and NFC was on. I'm on Carbon (a theme rom for Oxygen).

It's pretty fickle about where you put the phone; the ones at Tim Hortons are about 8 inches long, and the bottom quarter is where you put the phone. Just kind of tap it along the length of the sensor until it says 'Sending'.

Ya, Shopper's Drug Mart (in Ontario) sells prepaid Mastercards under the 'Cupcake' brand. I wouldn't ask their staff, just find the wall of gift cards. It's a gold package.

****, I threw out the card and I was working from memory, it's totally Vanilla. Their website is all cupcakes and ice cream, it's a very google-y image. Yes, Vanilla is what I meant in my random rambling about whatever baked goods. Sorry for your multiple trips to Shoppers
