Post [Q] Battery drain on different DPI settings

everyone keeps suggesting that DPI should not affect my battery life, my nexus S has 240 default DPI. I tried changing it to only 220 and noticed a huge spike in battery drain...
Can anyone explain why and confirm the same problem
