Does anybody know how to enable the transparent navigation and notification bar in Slimkat version 5, can't find the build.prop low ram or an option in the system?

lowram thingy does not work anymore to enable the transparent notification bar . I've seen a flashable zip somewhere before that enables the bar but I don't know if that would work in this ROM.

I'm using aosp 4.4.2. I think you should replace your launcher with the new launcher3.apk to have the transparent effect

I don't know why this doesn't work or how to enable it,but this is the commit which removed it.

If I may enter an opinion, pure aosp kitkat is pretty fast and fluid, but not anymore/less battery friendly than any version from jellybean to current... Extra opinions are in my chart, but you can get the same speed with better battery life with other roms..
