well probably i didn't said it correctly, but if you update manually from 2.3.x to 4.0.3 you may get the recovery not working, i forgot what was the issue exactly..so I assumed he did it like this. Anyway this is not the point the needs CWM anyway to go to 4.0.4.
btw I like your ubuntu installer app. gonna test it out on some devs next week.
