Default [Q] Very Simple Question I Hope - Kitkat on HD

Hi - I hope this will be a simple answer but just checking in case I knacker my HD up. I have a HD running on 10.2.1 and am looking to update it to Kitkat. Do I simply download the latest snapshot from here - http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hummingbird - and copy it to the SD. Then boot into recovery and update using the zip file? Or do I need to do something a bit more complicated? I read on another forum (hotukdeals I think) that you couldn't go from jellybean to kitkat as an upgrade as it sticks in a boot loop. So thought I would ask the experts instead!

Thanks in advance for any help.

No, you cannot do that. Kitkat requires a new set of files to install it. You need a new CWM and new gapps in addition to the ROM you download from that link. Go to the dummies guide linked in my signature to get the files and instructions.

CM11 requires a newer version of CWM than CWM versions used by CM10.x

The process in a nutshell: use your current recovery to flash the new CWM recovery version (the flashable zip file "recovery hummingbird recovery image (CWM)" posted at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...22&postcount=1), then just boot into the new recovery to flash CM11 and corresponding new Gapps (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps).
