Okay, my Sprint SM915P phone is successfully rooted. It went down pretty much how it did in this thread : http://xdaforums.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
I didn't install the SD card fix yet...have to check that out first.
I got the "FAIL" messsage after flashing the CF autoroot tar file, then I thought WTH, I'll see if the Tmobile variant process works, so I tried it, and it worked. I have rebooted several times and it seems ROOT is sticking. Recovery had a hard time finding the UPdate SU file for some reason, but I eventually did, and flashed it.
So, my recommendation is to flash the Chainfire Autoroot tar file for the Sprint variant first, then follow the thread I referenced above for the rest. Your results may be different, so buyer beware! Good luck.
Many Thanks to Chainfire and TEKHD , you guys rock!
What if I already have twrp on my phone but want root how do I do it? I've tried cf auto root and couple other root methods and they all put me in a boot loop so idk how to root it because idk what to do now

Is there root for UK MM 6.0.1 SM-N915FY ?
I'm from Germany and have 6.0.1 and model N915FY as well. In a german forum i found this confirmed to be working with Root so here is the translated instruction.
I just rooted my phone myself and can confirm it works fine:

You need the following tools:
Samsung drivers:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3d61st8zaxas4pt/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1_5_6_0.exe?dl=0
Odin 3:09:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ua0sqizz1m6558d/Odin3_v3.09.zip?dl=0
SuperSU 2.74:
https://download.chainfire.eu/964/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip?retrieve_file=1
and CWM for the F version of the Note (from this thread):
http://xdaforums.com/note-edge/development/n915s-n9150-cwm-based-recovery-6-0-5-1-t2954960
Move all files to a folder on the PC.
Copy the SuperSU your Cell (SD card int/ext).
Install the drivers for the phone.
Then go with the phone in the DL (download) mode.
Start Odin, connect the phone to the PC.
If Odin recognizes the cell phone continue.

Some side notes:
To get in DL (download) mode use key combination <VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER>.
To get in recovery mode use key combination <UP VOL + HOME + POWER>.
Press these buttons simultaneously.

You flash CWM in DL mode via Odin (in "AP" insert CWM) to the mobile phone.
It is important that you previously deactivate "Auto Reboot" in Odin.
When the flash process is finished, you just wait one minute after you have pressed the "Start", pull the cable from the phone and remove the battery.
Wait a couple seconds, and put the battery back inside.
Now, and this is important, you have to come directly into recovery mode.
If the phone starts normally into the system, CWM is overwritten with the standard recovery.
If you're in CWM, you go to "Install zip" and select the SuperSU to install.
ATTENTION: if CWM asks you to install root or SuperSU, answer with NO, else you get a bootloop!
Now you can Restart, normal into the system.

That's it already, if you're in the system, you install this app from Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummyapps.rootchecker

I have the international sm n915g. I am on 5.1.1 and I was wondering if I could use CF auto root although his 5.1.1 zip is for a different build as mine

This is to announce that @Chainfire has kindly provided his CF-Auto-Root to support various Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915* devices !!

I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS THREAD ANY LONGER, SO PLEASE FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK AND DO NOT PM FOR HELP or Q&A

THIS THREAD IS JUST A REFERENCE & LINK TO CHAINFIRE'S WORK, NOTHING ELSE

THIS WILL VOID WARRANTY & SET KNOX COUNTER 0x1. THERE IS NO KNOWN METHOD TO ROOT WITHOUT TRIPPING KNOX !!

    Repository of supported devices:

    http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

If your device is NOT SUPPORTED:

    1. Download your deice firmware from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com
    2. Extract recovery.img
    3. Post your recovery.img in Chainfire OFFICIAL CF-AUTO-ROOT THREAD !! and ask him nicely to look into it

If your device has issues with CF-Auto Root method:

    * If your device has a LOCKED BOOTLOADER, then you're out of luck. There is no known method to unlock.
    * Post in Chainfire OFFICIAL CF-AUTO-ROOT THREAD !!

    Official XDA CF-Auto-Root Thread:

PLEASE POST ALL QUERIES RELATED TO CF-AUTO ROOT TO THE BELOW OFFICIAL CF-AUTO-ROOT THREAD !!

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1980683

I have only personally tested SM-N915S model and confirm root working. I can not vouch for any other device models. Just make sure you have your full firmware package available to recover from a soft brick and read the thread before attempting to flash !!

    Method used for my SM-N915S:

    1. Advised: Have a full stock firmware package available (just in case of soft brick) [sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com]
    2. Have Samsung USB drivers installed on Windows PC (Easiest way is DL KIES from Samsung)
    3. DISABLE REACTIVATION LOCK: device settings > security > reactivation lock >> DISABLE (uncheck)
    4. Flash via Odin [I used Odin3 v3.07 - attachment] as per Chainfire's instructions !
** If unsure how to use Odin, there are many guides found by searching !
    5. Wait around 30 secs after flash (stuck on boot screen), and hopefully device will boot.
    6. Open SuperSU app and update SU if prompted

I extracted the recovery.img and asked to chainfire the necessary tool to root the SM-N915FY in this post.
Now we have only to wait.

There is ad and there is ad.

I'd rather have the choice and if I want to help devs, I pay for their app or I donate on their paypal.
