The Play Store gives me this error message when I try to install certain apps: "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card." What can I do to install those apps?

I was battling that error for a few days. After many searches and many solutions that did not work, I ended up flashing a different rom.
Do you happen to be on Liberty Max XL (sense 5.5) Rom? That's where I got the same error. I've since flashed Sense 6 Liberty and the problem went away.
