e971 power without battery

I the battery went all bloated on my Optimus G and now I'd like to power it directly from the USB charger. It won't work without a battery in it, but I noticed the battery is plugged into a 4 pin port. Does anybody know if I can modify the port to power the phone?
When measuring the pins while the charger is plugged in I have voltage between pins 1 and 3. I was thinking I can jumper pins 1 and 2 together and pins 3 and 4 together, which should send the + and - into the phone without the battery present. Would that work?

No joy with the jumpering. If anyone knows how to power this phone without a battery, please let me know.

You can do the following but I take no responsibility of any issue, as you need
to be extremely careful not to damage yourself or the phone:

1. Remove the original battery
2. Disassemble the integrated circuit that is connected to the cell of that battery you have just removed. Not that difficult but need to be extra careful.
3. Simply connect any 3.7V power source or any other li-ion battery cell (for example a 18650 cell).
4. Plug the circuit back to the phone.
