GPS works perfect in cm7 with a simple work around. This happens with all 2.3. Here's the work around.
Nandroid ur cm7. It doesn't keep the bad info cause that's on the GPS chip. Hence why u can't do this in cm.

Boot up a sense rom and turn on GPS. This is very important. It must be on.
Type ##gpsclrx# in dialer then ur msl. U can use msl reader in the market to find it.

Let the phone reboot. Once on turn GPS on and let it lock. Use GPS status and toolbox to make sure its locked

Now boot to recovery, wipe everything, and nandroid to cm7.

This is confirmed with multiple phones running cm7.
