First, extract and copy the attached file EUDC.TTE to your Windows folder on the PPC.
(If you already have a file named EUDC.TTE on your device, you need to rename it before you copy the file.)
Second, use a registry editor to make the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\EUDC
Third, make a new REG_SZ type registry value named SystemDefaultEUDCFont and enter the data as \Windows\EUDC.TTE
Last, be sure to exit your registry editor, have a couple of sips of sake, and then soft reset.
You should now be able to see emoji (albeit in b/w) when you get sms/mms from softbank users.
Inputting emoji is also possible, but more complicated and requires a bit of Japanese. If anyone is interested, please say so.

I've converted this into a CAB installer, attached. Dunno how to force a soft reset, sorry. Since this is making a registry change, need to reset by long pressing the power button to turn off/on or use a reset tool. Don't press the reset button with the stylus.
How to enter these with Japanese input?
