Default 'name' command-line argument and voice speed dialing (voice tags) with iDialer

Hello Everyone,

I've found an example of iDialer.exe being called from a shortcut using the following syntax.

"\Program Files\iDialer\iDialer.exe" <XXXXXXXXXX> -name=<First Last>

The 10 X's would be replaced with the 10-digit number that you would like to call. What exactly is the purpose of the name argument? It doesn't appear to make any difference whether or not I specify it. At first, I thought it had to do with the entry that would show up in my call history, but that does not appear to be correct.

I was really excited when I found out about the iDialer application. Though, I couldn't find any information on how to use iDialer with voice speed dialing (voice tags). My Windows Mobile phone has Cyberon Voice Speed Dial installed for assigning voice tags. Unfortunately, voice tags for contacts only work with the native dialer application. I thought I was not going to be able to make calls with iDialer using my Bluetooth headset. That would have been a major problem for me because I make a majority of my calls while I am driving. Then I remembered that iDialer supports command-line dialing and that Cyberon Voice Speed Dial supports associating voice tags to applications.

So, I created a folder under my Windows Start Menu called "GV". I placed a separate iDialer shortcut in that folder for each person that I wanted to dial using a voice tag. I named the shortcuts "GV - <Last>, <First> - <M|W|H>". I used the following syntax for each shortcut's target.

"\Program Files\iDialer\iDialer.exe" XXXXXXXXXX

After creating these shortcuts, Cyberon Voice Speed Dial showed an entry for each of them under the Application tab. I was then able to assign a voice tag to each of these shortcuts in order to easily make calls with iDialer using my Bluetooth headset. It works great! I thought I would pass this information along in case it would be useful to anyone else.
