I know there is always a risk in installing a custom rom, but if I follow instructions to the letter what are the chances of something going wrong so I would need to get a new phone or send it off for repair? Also does the baseband on my device have to be a specific version?
No CyanogenMod 11 have finished and are with Cyanogenmod 12 are not interested in reaching the end to keep their living pages and earn money with advertising, I'm sick of these developers. I turn to the official.
The model of my device is I9195, which appears to be correct for this thread so I will give it a go, thanks!Your baseband will be fine and as long as you have the right model for this thread an follow instructions precisely you will be good, yes there is always risk but this ROM is near enough spot on, take the jump , you'll be happy.

Well, most device maintainers/developers, like me, are not working for CM and are doing this as a hobby and on their free time. Imagine if I got like $1 from everyone that installed the ROM, then I could maybe make a living of it. But I don't, so I'm still just as broke as before. No CyanogenMod 11 have finished and are with Cyanogenmod 12 are not interested in reaching the end to keep their living pages and earn money with advertising, I'm sick of these developers. One thing I am confused about it where it says to flash the two .zip files in step #3 and #4. Do I flash those in Odin, or is there a option in ClockworkMod Recovery to flash those from SD card? I want to make sure before I start. Also, My device is already rooted but not with ClockworkMod Recovery so can I install ClockworkMod Recovery and skip the flashing with Odin of the root in the ClockworkMod Recovery thread?
How I rooted was different I didn't need cwm. All I did, was used the AP button in Odin to flash "CF-Auto-Root-serranolte-serranoltexx-gti9195.tar.md5" and then my phone restarted and was rooted, even used a root checker to make sure. So I just installed cwm now and it appears my phone is still rooted, so I believe I am good to go. What is strange though after installing cwm the colours seem a tiny bit more "washed out" (not sure what else to call it).I'm not sure how you originally rooted your phone as in which method you used, most require cwm, you don't use Odin to root , you use Odin to get cwm then get root by flashing with cwm. Here's the link to cwm / root instructions to make what I'm saying more clear.

Now when you flash cm12 in cwm, if once its done it says it broke root would you like to fix, choose no, it may not but if it does choose no, its not broke. If you choose yes it won't boot. Once booted go to about an tap build number 7 times to activate developer options, in developer options go to root an change to your preference, either just apps or apps an adb, once that's done root is functional but not to its full ability, I found some root apps wouldn't work with the built in root option so I installed supersu and all works as it should
Just took the battery out and started the phone up again and now it is on the "Android is upgrading screen" and optimising the apps so I think it might be working now.I just did everything to the letter, and I am now on the boot screen where it has the blue cyanogenmod logo and the spinning arrow. Not sure how long this boot screen is supposed to take so I am a little worried.
Yeah this is my first time doing it so I was a little paranoid but it all worked and I am now on Android 5.0.2! Thanks for all the replied guys especially Tony that spent a lot of time answering all of my questions.
EDIT: I must admit that I do kind of miss the UI of the Samsung Galaxy device's official rom but I am sure this newer version of android will be worth it.
Was gonna say I bet its booted by the time I noticed an replied to your post, it does take a little while to boot after flashing an the same when you upgrade ROM but normal boot is fine.also if you don't like the ui try apex launcher an add some custom icons, loads of custom options with apex launcher too, then add some fonts with ifont from the market. Go ahead with what I said about root now and also if you have battery drain issues let me know an I'll give you some steps to follow cool .
My battery does seem to be gong down quickly. Also it is saying my available storage is pretty low, something around 1GB when there should be a lot more. I have 5.42GB of available space but when I addup what is being used for apps, photos, etc, it should not be using up anywhere near 4GB of space. I'm sorry but you do realise these are nightlies right? Like not 100% stable, there's issues. Get use to it. Stop complaining and GTFO.I have had enough, spending so many hours so much time to updating this piece of crap releases. Camera ****ed up, Bluetooth ****ed up, what else is to expect? And now this FW is official...sometimes i wonder wtf i am spending my time with. My only solution is
REVERTING BACK TO STOCK!
Wow. So what will you do if it's removed from CM11 as well? ☺I'm not moving to CM12 until BLN support or something very similar is there.
Of course, eventually the camera app will be much improved. CM12 is still just in the beginning, so don't expect everything to be on par with CM11 yet.Hi. Does anybody know if Cyanogen plans to implement better camera app with option to save to external SD card? New one does not have this option. Also is it possible to apply GPS for battery saving option in quick settings? Thanks
Agree, same here. Is there any shortcut to switch between normal and vibrate mode? Again, F4K's build did have such feature in power off menu.Is it because I did dirty flash from f4k unofficial version or did we lose volume, silent, and, vibrate options when holding power button in this version?

But how will we handle situations when e.g. you came from another room and there is some new message in your phone? Without persistent notification it's just impossible, you'll anyway have to power on the screen to check and be sure if there are any new events. All "ambient display" feature does - is just lighting up screen for few seconds. It doesn't leave any persistent signs, and it just cannot compare at all with simple and clear BLN notification feature. Besides, almost the same functionality could have been achieved even before LP with 3-d party apps, but it didn't show itself useful, at least for me.BLN conflicts with ambient display notifications, so I will completley remove it.
