Do you have custom recovery? No? Then follow the instructions to flash custom recovery (Amon RA or ClockworkMod will do), or install ROM Manager and do it from there.

Download these .zip files to your SD:
1) http://www.multiupload.com/ITHUVSGY4Y (this is the repacked FRG83 stock ROM, no radio update)
2) http://www.multiupload.com/Q4V1FW105J (this is the root update.zip)

Boot into custom recovery through whichever method. Take a nandroid backup to SD for safety. Then choose the option to install a zip from SD card. Install the ROM zip (1), and when it's done don't reboot yet. Now install the root zip (2). Reboot and you'll be in rooted FRG83.

I recommend you do these steps without a reboot in between zips, because the stock ROM may boot up and overwrite the custom recovery. If you end up with neither root nor custom recovery, you then have to go back through the manual steps to re-root FRG83.
