Holy cr&p! I didn't think it could actually get better! I put in the reghacks and have been amazed. There was no BitPool value installed by default btw. I needed to add the Settings key and the BitPool value manually. However, as an early A2DP implementer, I also entered the entire A2DP update registry settings manually before the CAB was released. It's very lilkely that subsequent CAB upgrades may have added the BitPool setting.
Any word on whether these hacks also fix the HT820 high-end distortion issue?
edit: after using it this way for a while...
I'm noticing an occasional soft "tick" in the background on some songs. It sounds like the tick a record used to make when there was a small scratch back in the days of vinyl. I'm not sure yet whether this is because the fidelity is so much better that I'm actually noticiing something with the ac4 file itself (as I'm listening to tracks that were ripped to ac4 from CD using iTunes). I'll have to listen carefully on the home system to see if they are there as well.
edit2: nope. Its my 8125. Disconnecting my headset then reconnecting removed the tick but it soon came back.
edit3: I put all registry settings back to the way they were, re-booted and its still there although much less noticable due to the lower fidelity. I'm going to crank it back up because I prefer the higher fidelity. Heck, I used to listen to scratched records all the time too....
