oddly enough, the nexus prime gets really hot when pushed hard.
cpu temp on left, battery temp on right..

Ya that's a little toasty. I have had my unit around 116°-118° before but never anything where it died so no biggie. And when you say pushed hard I can only imagine. lol. I had been reading that several people had been talking about the gnex getting warm. I'm not a over clocker. I had just found on these last set of builds that it was getting a little warm doing regular tasks. I say regular tasks but I don't think many of us actually use our phones like normal people. So I just thought I would ask. Could be a rom kernel combo as I have found that some times a kernel will run completely cold on one rom and hot fire on another. I will just keep messing with it until the next batch comes out. Thanks.

Flood - I have had some warmth before even just from using the internet. Most of the times it seems to have gone away after a day or two of using the phone after flashing, charging and discharging. The 132-ns-56hz-any-201212302 seems to run real nice on my phone. It might be worth a shot. 5/3 was working real nice / so far today 5/4 is going well too.

To me the bacon that makes the difference is the kernel. I am running The 132-ns-56hz-any-201212302. Getting better battery than the 50hz! (Dont know why but hey it is what it is) running 1320/100 ondemand. Turn off wifi when I am not using it and I get a full day between charges. (My biggest us is internet browsing) no g+, no facebook sync.....)(I have also stopped using a theme)(trying to determine if a theme can effect performance and battery life). I thik it does quite a bit by the way!

I have always enjoyed aokp. I think Rooster and I were the first two to ever try his build for the ns4g way back right before Christmas. It's made huge leaps and bounds since then. It's the only other rom I consider a daily driver other than our beloved skankwhich .

how is AOKP.. i know this isnt the right thread but figured a quick comment wouldnt hurt?

AOKP is amazing.... since i dont have wifi I have been on M5 with the amoled blue theme since it dropped. And I usually don't make it more than a day without flashing. AOKP is like that thick cut bacon, really crispy and delicious. But you only get it a couple times a month if your lucky

You're so right flood.... aokp was pretty bad ass. I was on those early builds as well. I flashed it for the first time on Christmas day and stuck with it for a long time. But love the euroskank and dark ice combo sooo much...

@morfic. Thanks for that. I guess my conspiracy theory was a little premature. I will say that there has been a major change overall with the way cm does things since ics has gone full bore. They have become far more conservative since the gb days. Just makes it look as though they are trying to move towards a more proprietary model as they possibly try to legitimize cm as more of a mainstream rom, ie touchwiz, sense. They have made mention in the past of such intentions and with the move away from putting out as many experimental/nightly builds sends a message, again I'm speculating, that they are trying to show someone that even their nightly builds are put together better than most builds that are preloaded by manufacturers on flagship phones. Where are the old cm nightlies? The ones where they added a cool new feature for your phone and it wouldnt even boot or would work for ten minutes just so you could see how cool it was then locked your phone up only to never boot again without a nand? That kind of spirit is gone replaced by a overly protective sense of "watch what you release, we dont want to ruffle to many feathers." With the amount of users they have now and devices they develop for they are in prime position to go mainstream. Seems as though now all their releases are just a little to "nice". I miss that old balls to the wall approach. CM is now the "bleeding edge" with training wheels. Thank goodness for these kangs or we wouldnt see alot of these features for weeks or maybe even months. By the time they actually drop something now its so far behind its like, meh. People used to get excited to come home from work or school to check out the latest nightly, or maybe that was just me. Now its all about the Kangs as CM seemingly preps for the masses. Alright, Im done, sorry.

Seems as though cm is doing little stupid things like this lately. Trying to force us to use their built in kernel? Why would they do this last little thing? I'm not a dev so I am trying to understand why they moved this stuff around other than to make it a pain for people to have to make a special kernel just for cm. Making me more and more look elsewhere for roms. Just wondering.

    †††

Unfortunately some practices seem that way, so I'll plus one that.
Now i put my serious cap on and say it's just rash decisions by a not controlled enough too large team.
CM is not a one man show, things can get away, and "CM" is blamed when it might or might not be an individual's choices.

That said, these kernels will install on rascream and cm, cause that's how simple a fix they could have implemented, to allow old kernels to work, put out the word and once kernels are updated, you can remove it.

That's why i say "rash" decision, looks not thought out and in need of leadership approval.

Patches that had been used for months and had often supporting apps by the developers were intentionally broken under the cover of "wanting to avoid problems with third party apps", creating odd situations where kernel devs received questions to fix BLN since it is broken when the code was untouched kernel side.
In essence CM trampled over things like BLN or voodoo sound creating problems for the devs, creating extra work for those devs (ok, in some cases this lead to new developments spurred by the infuriating situation)

Talks had been started to rectify the issue, things slowed back down, not dead, people do get busy, and bam something new silly happens, breaking compatibility to AOSP, your base, is dumb, hard to not make conclusions.

See what happened there? I said CM, sounds like i mean all of CM, doesn't it? Every individual? when it's not CM as a whole, there are tons of CM devs who are not the problem, it's the restructuring a project of that size needs that allows devs to "glitch" and make broad changes that have ill effects like the one just witnessed that i refer to as CM, the organization, not the capable individuals that bust their ass to provide something for the community to share.

Until this is rectified, it will appear to people like the little guy who stuck it to "The Man" by bringing roms and capabilities to phones that the manufacturers didn't even dream of has in fact become, in a grotesque turn of events, become "The Man"

I have a custom gapps I've been using that has wallet enabled and does some other stuff...removes extra keyboards, music app, etc. I can make available if needed. I'm the one compiling the Euroskank Crespo 4G builds.

Latest Trinity kernels have been fixed for moved module folder location since shortly after CM moved them, try one from Testing tab at www.derkernel.com click crespo, click testing, pick one of the recent ones, et voila!
(Trinity will actually work on both new CM, old CM, aosp, Trinity is a Honeybadger, it doesn't care, it just doesn't give a ****, it just works.
