Agreed but I know most if not all would prefer CM9. If it was CM7, I would still need to fix the same issues as CM9
Ril right? I appreciate your work but sometimes i feel our chances of true aosp is slim.
Too many bugs for me at the moment. I've tried about 3 ICS ROMs and it just doesn't feel polished to me yet. I'll stick with Gingerbread until then. I do definitely agree with CM7, there's no point really. Might as well get CM9 worked out the best you can, because when it is fully stable no one will give CM7 a second thought anyway. When you've had a nice taste of ICS the it does feel quite dated :x.
RIL stands for radio interface layer. Its basically a translator between the software side of the phone and the actual radio hardware. Most likely the Droid 4 has a similar radio to the nexus which would make it a ton easier to get the ril working.
With our phones, the ril has to make both cdma and lte work before the radio will function. Most likely the radio in the Droid 4 only needs one of them working. We also have data and voice at the same time both on cdma and lte which adds another level of difficulty to making this whole thing work.
All in all, its a long steep road because of the hardware HTC chose to use.
