Ok you are right ....may be I have forgotten to add something to compile !
...but if you take a look into /system/build.prop I attached this two line : ro.board.has_vibrator=yes or true , I do not know exactly what is right yes or true ? and added also ro.audio.no_adjust=yes/true !

I've took a closer look, ro.board.has_vibrator are also present in /system/init/[device name].rc files, I don't know which file has higher priority (local.prop or .rc). Testing modification now ;)

EDIT:
It seems that vibrator support was removed from system, changing ro.board.has_vibrator to yes in all possible places does nothing.
Anyway uploading 350MB ext4 now ;)

EDIT EDIT:
Firmware 4.0.4, 350MB ext4 file
Changes: /etc/init.d should work for all scripts (by default works for S??* )

Need mor explanations about rooted ICS process

Hello all,

Tomorrow my 80 G9 will arrive. I've read everything about Archos tablets and I want to root mine. So, the facts:
1. It will be Archos G9, 1GHz, 8GB with Android 3.2 (don't know exactly which version), and the ICS upgrade is already available in my country (ROmania) by OTA
2. Please help me to understand step by step how to use a rooted ICS. I'm not exactly a beginner (i have rooted my htc desire and change the ROMs twice a month)but the Archos world seems all new for me; different concepts from my phone...
Installation :

- copy archos.ext4.update into Internal Storage ( /data/media ; /mnt/storage ). This is crystal clear!
- reboot into SDE menu and (how to do that?)under Developer Edition Mernu , Flash Kernel and Initramfs : copy zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo on the new driver that appears on desktop/laptop (So, do i need to conect the tablet to my computer? When? before rebooting into SDE menu?
- ok ! and wait for reboot your devices (I am still connected to the computer?): after reboot you can see Android update system for a while .....be patient[/COLOR] Couldn't be clearer!
Hope to treat me with understanding and patience. I try to discover a new world...
Thank you very much

Problem with Talk App

Hello all,

and thanks again to surdu_petru for the root of the ICS.

I'm having an issue with the Talk app, it drops all the videocalls after a few seconds, is there anyway to install the talk app, from the honeycomb?

what could I do?

Thank you in advance...

Yes, adb works fine.
ONE NOTE (I've posted some time ago)- device identification is changed, in android_winusb.inf you need:
Code:
;Archos Gen9
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0E79&PID_[b]1529[/b]
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0E79&PID_[b]1529[/b]&MI_01

What about supercharger

Surdu_petru or someone who knows more than i do. What about Supercharger? I did the supercharg script and i used the internet app for services.jar for ISC (AAaa!!! i forgot to say that I did your root on ICS THANK YOU!!!!
Works perfect) but the web app says that the rom we have is a diffrent version they support (sorry can't remember what it was) and I found a zeppelinox thred that explains it but it is like black magic for me. So my question is :):

Is there a easy way to supercharge your rooted version od ICS for G9. And i forgot to mention when i did the supercharge without the web app i lost the root. But i think i would loose it anyway without backing up the rooted su and then over coping it like in Quinny899's method for honeycomb.

I find that with supercharger it works much faster and i would realy like to have it on ICS.

flashing again with content of drive.zip (posting #1) to get back your brightness. pls note, after this step your bootlogo is lost again, but it's better then a dark screen.

Great Work! but tun.ko is missing

Thanks for the great work, ICS is really cool!

I use the rooted kernel for my G9 - but the tun.ko module is missing, it's also not built-in into the kernel. Can anyone compile and post it?

I tried to setup an ARM-Toolchain on my Windows-Machine, but I failed :-(

Thanks in advance...

    Hi !

This is the original version ICS 4.0.4 (4.0.3) - untouched , with Root and Busybox !

For all those who want original ICS , but with root access , now they can download the root version .

Contains the original Archos ICS system, and added : Su, Superuser and Busybox
    .

These are the files you need to install root version :

    - archos.ext4.update under archive ICS.update.zip => http://hotfile.com/dl/149252596/a4d2a34/ICS.update.zip.html

    - zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo under archive drive.zip => http://hotfile.com/dl/149250435/75b0cdb/drive.zip.html
    - zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo under archive drive.zip => http://www.4shared.com/zip/3bpGVg5z/drive_2.html

    Installation :

    - copy archos.ext4.update into Internal Storage ( /data/media ; /mnt/storage )
    - reboot into SDE menu and under Developer Edition Mernu , Flash Kernel and Initramfs : copy zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo on the new driver that appears on desktop/laptop
    - ok ! and wait for reboot your devices : after reboot you can see Android update system for a while .....be patient !

You can not installed over your existing system ( Honeycomb) because initramfs changed ! First, must install the original ICS (firmware_archos_it4.aos) , and then you can install root version .

This Root version works on all tablets gen9, is stable and can be used as a daily ROM !

( For not to expect too much between the two download ....now you have the option to download drive.zip )

Ok, now we await the release overclocking enabled :D

    Hi!

Because I'm going to do a true Custom Rom - I think it will take some time !
...but I'll work even a week ....for release a real CR !

Work has already started for the new project .

I was having issues at first as well, so i did not remove the stock kernel yet - just to make sure everything was ok.

First, i already had the stock 4.0.4 update and root using Paul's method

second, I did had to re-install my adb usb driver from the android sdk, after the update it did't work anymore (adb devices returned nothing)

after that was fixed - i did adb push archos.ext4.update /data/media/ and waited for file copy

rebooted into the recovery system ->developer edition menu - and copied and flashed zimage and initramfs.cpio.lzo - and then let the device boot into the stock kernel.

i rebooted again into the sde, chose developer edition and got a black screen, for some time. i put the tablet down and waited (not sure if its important, but mu usb cable is left plugged in the entire time) the update then started in the developer edition. i let it run and configure - success.

Thanks surdu_petru, you are once again, the man.
