camera tweaks possible?

In light of Motorola camera and Google camera hitting the play store; I pondered the question "What if we can recompile the apps and add our own tweaks on video quality and other manual settings?"

Is this even possible? Or maybe somebody has already done this?

I'm planning to get one but the camera quality is the only let down. Can it be improved by installing the "lenovo camera apk"? Im using this apk on my present HD2 android phone it greatly improves the photo quality. I will appreciate If someone who owns moto x, try out this lenovo camera and share the result. Thanks
