I'm having the same problem. The RUU will not run for me no matter what I do, I have installed and uninstall HTC sync manager, installed every 2005/2008/2010/2012 Visual C++ redistributable I can find and yet it the thing just always crashes as soon as I accept the license agreement. POOF! Just gone. I hate Windows so much. It's Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit if that matters.

I can't seem to get the stock backup to work either. I applied it via recovery but every time I reboot the System UI crashes as does HTC dot view. There is no notification bar at the top nor any back/home/recent apps buttons on the bottom. :(

I think the only solution here *IS* the RUU, right? But the thing just refuses to run and this is the only Windows system I have...so any ideas?

Did you run it as Administrator? Right click and run as admin.

Yep and it still didn't work. I even tried launching CMD as administrator and then running it from there, but it didn't give me any extra insight. Oh well. Ultimately, I just went into the stock recovery and ran a data wipe/factory reset and the next time it booted up, it just worked! No RUU required. Now I can avoid booting into Windows for many more months and happily run Ubuntu. :)

I am rooted, s off, using twrp on lollipop. I wanted to return to stock because I used Jump and got an m9 and need to send the m8 back.

I ran the T Mobile RUU and it failed, I am now stuck on the HTC blackscreen with exclamation points in all 4 corners and can't get into recovery or boot past this screen. How can I recover from this mess? I've never had an RUU fail, it said that it was the wrong firmware for my device but it's the correct RUU. I was stock rooted before the RUU failed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I'm converted to GPE (s-off, rooted rom), relocking the bootloader, set CID & MID to original values and flash the latest T-Mobile RUU is all that is needed to go back to stock, right?

By stock I mean stock firmware, OTA capable (unless I remove bloatware). Not S-ON (I don't care about S-ON actually).

How would I unlock the bootloader again then after the update?

Ok, so you will need to get a new unlock token at HTC Dev and follow the same procedure as the first time you unlocked the bootloader.

Ok so I got a new token from HTC dev and then re-rooted the phone again. Even after all that and the update, my HBOot version is still showing v.3. whatever and not the 4.20 something. Is T-Mobile just behind the other M8 variants?

For future reference, you can use these steps to lock and unlock your bootloader extremely easily:

http://www.pocketables.com/2014/07/nondestructively-lockrelockunlock-s-htc-one-m7m8-bootloader.html

As for your hboot, I no longer have an M8 so I can't check but I think 3.X is the latest. What you just updated was your software build. Go to settings, about, software information and verify the 4.20.xxx build there. Should also show under the more option.

Ok, yeah I did the whole RUU process and HBOOT is the same as before. Thanks. Basically did it for nothing and had to unlock and reroot the phone. Haha!

Ok, I promise I have searched and read and tried to get a good idea of what I need to do to return to stock for a Jump! upgrade - but I am still not 100% certain on exactly what needs to be done.

- T-Mobile M8
- S-Off via Sunshine
- Bootloader unlocked via HTC Dev
- Philz Touch 6 Recovery installed
- Current ROM is SkyDragon v9

Would like to return to as much stock as possible to prevent any issues with the Jump! upgrade. A concise list of ToDos would be much appreciated, thank you.

As of Sept 10, 2015 - today - what is the latest version of the T-Mobile M8 Radio.img?

Is it T-Mo-Radio-2.22.531.5?

For TMOUS it is now 4.20.531.5., just released a week ago.

ok, i'm sorry to bother you, but I've been looking for weeks and can't find an answer. I'm using grafixnyc's GPE rom which is on the latest update, and my wifi keeps dropping or not connecting, and im sure i need the latest radio for tmobile, but for some reason i can't find the 4.20.531.5 radio. i'm stuck with the 4.20.531.4 radio and i'm hoping that's the issue. if you can help, i'd greatly appreciate it. thank you

Your WIFI problem would not be because of the Firmware in this case. 4.20.531.4 should be just fine with WIFI. You might want to consult the ROM's thread itself and see what the issue might be. the .5 update has to do with security features and I am sure there will release a self flashing version soon we can all use....

Ok RUU'd my phone to update to 4.20.531.15, everything went fine. Then flashed TWRP 2.8.6.2 CPTB. Still booted up fine. But when I went to install SU then phone stuck on HTC logo. WTF? Any suggestions????
FYI hboot and OS version is updated in bootloader even after I restore backup.
