Whenever I try to do a nandroid backup to the external SD in my nook hd I get a "Can't mount backup path" error, the backup works fine to the internal flash and the external SD works fine in usage. I'm running CWM 6.0.4.6 and I'm running CM 11

Your external card needs to be formatted in FAT32 for it to work with that version of CWM. If it's formatted in exFAT, you will get that error message. So just re-format your card and it should work fine.
