Bothersome Keyboard "Feature"

Does anyone know a workaround for this. Whenever I enter a special character such as a dash, quotation mark, campervan, etc, It ALWAYS butts it right up at the end of the previous word I just finished always overriding the space I've entered. Its doggone annoying and frustrating. Wondering if anyone else is bugged by this and has found an unintrusive workaround.

For some it works like a , or a . or : as that's correct but " should definitely not do it.
