At the moment I can't try it because I have this cursed 9070p.
When I will have the firm for my model I will test this method certainly!

Most likely that root method Shaaan provided would work on any JB for our phone.

I have some doubt with the compatibility with kies...
But I am not an expert developer and it is only a supposition...

Kies was not working when you have custom kernel/ROM on GB too. So it only works on stock. And usb debuging must be off, and for root you need it on.

With the root of this thread, when USB debug is disabled kies work perfectly

Phone is rooted when you put file "su" in folder system/bin. So it is same you did it this way, or any other.

ah! Now I have understand, and if kies work, is probably because any firm have his custom root... I think...

Edit: sorry is not so.
Su is added directly in the stock firmware of the phone so it is not necessary to flash a custom firm by Odin.
Csc, phone, and the other part of the firm remain the same.
Probably kies works if it is correct

That one is updated firmware, find the one that was not in here and flash it with Odin.

i have an indian version 9070i. currently running stock non rooted 2.3.6 (DDLD4)..
1)can i use this method to flash JB rom (XXLPY or XXLPZ) without increasing the binary counter(and is there pre rooted version of JB available)
or is there any method to do this, i have read many threads but is unable to find the exact answer with some clarity,sorry for being a noob..

Hi friends. Till today I havent messed with my Galaxy S advance i9070. It's on Stock 2.3.6 DDLK2 FW from India.
I have downloaded the corrosponding pre-rooted firmware for it.
I9070DDLK2_I9070ODDLJ1_INU_ROOTED_SUPERSU.rar

I have the Odin and all necessary stuff. What my question is that WILL THIS ERASE MY APPS AND DATA??
Will I lose all my apps and their data if I do this?? I intend to flash JB after this. and only reason I am doing this rooting is to backup my data with TiBackup before going JB.

Unless you wipe/factory reset your phone, you won't lose any data or apps installed

You just do not do factory reset. But there is chance your phone will not boot untill you do factory reset, you can try. All apps will be gone after factory reset. And data from internal memory (that 3.9GB) will not be deleted.

Or, u can backup your apps on the PC/ Dropbox/whatever and after update, reinstalled.
That what I've done it when I do last update GB->JB.
