Work,

I know I've said it before but thank you. 4.1 has been amazing, fast, stable, and nice battery life.

Thank you for your hard work!

Really? lol, well thank you. You must have one of the perfect eris' like me if my rom is working that well for you? lol ;)

I have GSBv4.1 on mine and my wife's Erii with no issues. I think a lot of the issues ppl have are due to the flashing process or from trying to run too many scripts/mods that don't play nice together.

I dunno but I've tried lots of stuff to get maps to work and it just won't. I had no problems with 3.9 and I couldn't download maps from the market on 4.1 so I couldn't test it.

New Android Market 3.3.11

Just FYI I've installed and used the new Android Market http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1329014 successfully using the Root Explorer method. I tried flashing the flashable zip version but both ClockworkMod and Amon RA recovery resulted in an error when trying to flash it.

Of note, the Android Market FINALLY has a setting to auto-update over WIFI only. Although I welcome this change, in the end I decided I'd rather see what apps are updating manually so that I can check out their changelog before I choose to update. :)

Make a backup in recovery before you screw with Root Explorer!

I never have liked the auto update with market, I always went through and made sure all was set to manual, would be nicer if they had a setting for all manual instead, I'd rather see what apps need updating also, so that "I" can check out their changelog before "I" choose to update. but no matter to me I haven't liked any of the newest market apk so I'm still using :rolleyes: 2.3.6 :eek: :D

I agree with you on the autoupdate thing but the newest market is way better than previous versions. It's a lot faster and shows more results .

Well, I guess I wasn't having ROM issues after all. I traced the problem back to the activities I was doing when the problems started each time, and it was always the same thing. Navigation. I avoided its use and guess what? No issues at all. :rolleyes:
Really stable and awesome as usual shed.
EDIT : Also, I looked into it and I had been using amon ra recovery that was installed with the one-click root app. I have now officially used cwm and I like it a lot better. Is there a way to remove amon?

That's fantastic news! Glad you got that sorted, too bad you have to sacrifice an app you like. It's a shame when that happens.

Been finding myself doing this more and more as apps get "updated" beyond the capabilities of the Eris

Yea it sucks that the little eris can't keep up anymore. My upgrade is in February and I'm still undecided on what phone to upgrade to.

There'll probably be even more new phones out by then. I'm March, but I may have a chance at an early upgrade in December. If I do, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the Droid Razr. That phone is incredible.

I just wish they'd make a phone that has a smaller screen like the Eris. the larger screens are nice, but to me 4 inches is just a bit too big. Oh well.

Screw a motorola... Sent I'm tired of hearing my wife complain about all the problems with her Droid 3. Plus I don't want the hassle of a locked bootloader.

Actually, I barely ever use it but I had been going to a lot of new places with fuzzy-at-best directions so I got everywhere using it. It is handy but I don't usually go new places so I'm good without it. :p

Picked up an Incredible 2

Replaced my 22 month old Eris with a barely used Incredible 2 I picked up on Craigslist for $135 plus my old Eris. Wife and I both bought Eris and been running Sheds ROMs for the past year or more, I loved the little Eris and my wife hated it. It was very slow compared to the Inc 2. I haven't rooted it yet but it is plenty fast and incredibly smooth. Only downside is no HDMI port. My 2 yrs is up on Dec 20th and I have unlimited data on that plan. I am wondering if Verizon can take away my unlimited when my 2 years are up if I don't sign for another 2 yrs. ? Anyone know? I don't see why they should as long as I pay my $137.00 a month for our two phones.

So you're liking your DInc2? How's the call quality especially in iffy signal strength areas? Our house is equidistant from 3 towers and we rarely get better than -95dBm at home. Wife's original DInc is unusable as a phone at home, but cool elsewhere.

My upgrade is due now and I'm still a bit undecided. Don't really need 4G (I don't stream media and can't imagine wanting to) and prefer better battery life, so that points to 3G. I've been considering the Dinc2 (world phone+more easily rootable+smaller form factor, but only single core and some concern about HTC call quality) vs Droid x2 (brilliant screen+dual core+still good battery life, but larger in pocket and maybe harder to root).

    Instructions ...
    || Boot in recovery...

    || REBOOT...
    || let phone settle for a bit, come back and setup...

    THINGS TO NOTE:

    Gallery3D was removed in 4.5-Final because the ICS rotations added to the cm repos borked it.
    Please download & install QuickPic after flash if you want to view pictures.

    Do NOT flash gapps: it will remove Maps 5.2 and then you're on your own if the new Maps gives you problems.
    Google Search icon is missing: just apply the "ice cream san" theme in the app drawer.

    • added ICS transitions
    • added improved scrolling cache [ported from ICS]

    • Added Maps 5.2 to ROM: UPDATE AT YOUR OWN RISK, you could lose Maps function with newer updates.
    • Hard themed the lockscreen to look ICS-ish. NOTE: Phone slide lock has a white circle around it, I know, but I kind of like it :)
    • All theme credits besides the lockscreen jog dials (me) go to sonnysekhon & boykioy
