WiFi is still not working in my case
Examining the logs of your router it seems to me that it is more router specific issue encountered by others and I found some references googling around on possible ways to cure the problem. I am not sure it will help but please have a look at:

Now concerning this one:
and still no sound on the HDMI port.
let's try this blind fix: can you please test (again...) this firmware:

Would love to try, but my G9 is running so nice with the rooted 4.0.5 that i'll wait for the rooted 4.0.6 (hint: surdu_petru :) ) as to not lose supercharging and 'performance' governor...

Already tried the below stuff:
* static IP,
* changing channel,
* changing cyphering method from Auto to something else,
* my Access Point (not a router) is already on its last firmware,
* my phone, laptop and XBox are getting clean connection with it,
* It WORKS in 3.2.80, even after upgrade to 4.0.x and downgrade again to 3.2.80, thus it is not an hardware issue, nor some kind of weird incompatibility between the hardware of the tab and the hardware of my AP.

So, i've just tested the new firmware, I now have sound on the HDMI output, and changing again cyphering bring WiFi up (not in auto/auto mode, but at least i'm still in WPA2-AES).

Trouble seems to be in the WPA2-AUTO/AUTO mode.

Trouble seems to be in the WPA2-AUTO/AUTO mode.

Forget what i've said, it does not work anymore and i did nothing except download a few apps from the store.

I've changed again settings of my AP, but it does not want to connect.

I don't get it ...

Downgrading to 3.2.80 again.

OK, we will investigate your specific issue and continue to work on a solution. Seems that we have fixed 2 Wi-Fi issues so far but there is still one to go.

I tried the test rom (4.0.6) and my HDMI problem, described here seems to be gone. The mediacenter GUI is now flawless in transitions, doesn't do video tearing anymore. I'm waiting for final 4.0.6 now and surdu_petru's custom rom :)

sorry - 4.0.6. didn't change anything with WiFi for me (G9/80/250) ...still permanently "reconnecting", plus freezes...more than before (during wlan-activity, connected via a second router that *does* work still and did so since HC)

:(

Try changing router security settings. Such as mixed mode.

...exactly. besides, I have three smartphones and four tablets here (from windows mobile 6.1 to ICS...) and they ALL connect and transfer without a hickup, the only exception being my brand new archos g9/80. This indeed is going to be ridiculous, selling stuff that fails in places where all have gone before. I already ordered a Samsung 7.7 and will sell the archos then. Y'know - I don't buy a car and then wait for months to see them fix the lights.

Please check the following firmware and report in this thread if it solves your Wi-Fi or HDMI issues.

    http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/gen9_4.0.4-TEST/firmware_archos_it4.aos

There might be still some audio out problems with HDMI with OMAP4430 ES2.2 based platforms (check in settings->about tablet->OMAP version): we are still working on it and will come up with a solution shortly.

Thank you for your help/feedback and patience.

Here we go again: for those still experiencing issues with Wi-Fi we have a new test firmware that consists in a major upgrade for your evaluation:
    http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/gen9_4.0.6-TEST4/firmware_archos_it4.aos
Please note that this firmware also includes i) skype audio fix, ii) SGX performance boost, iii) some more CPU scheduler stability patches.
If this is not the ultimate solution, it would be great to generate logs of the failures by installing/running the following applications after witnessing a problem:
    http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/debug/LogExtractor.apk
that will generate a zip of the logs at the root of your tablet and post the result.

Thank you for your help and patience.

All: thank you very much for your testing and reports.
I see that we are making progress but there are still some issues left.
We have a new firmware ready for you to test including some Wi-Fi changes:
    http://update.archos.com/9/gen9/gen9_4.0.5-TEST/firmware_archos_it4.aos
Thank you for your help/feedback and patience.

Please note that the final 4.0.6 firmware has been released. It contains one more Wi-Fi fix that will hopefully solves more disconnection problems faced with some access points. Please share your experience with this new firmware if 4.0.6-TEST2 was not working for you. Thank you for your help and patience.

All: official 4.0.5 is out. It contains some minor additional fixes but nothing new on the Wi-Fi front compared to the test firmware.
For the fritzbox and speedsport owners (Atheros based AP): we are working on the issue with our Wi-Fi chipset provider, we have over the air captures of the issue. Please stay tuned.
