Froyo system images are here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/

To install, rename the system-froyo-timestamp.tgz file to androidinstall.tgz and
put it in /andboot on your sdcard.

This needs a recent 320x240 froyo kernel.

The git repository for this build is here:

http://androidhtc.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb-index.cgi

You can see the latest changes by looking at the individual git change logs.
The git repo for most of the device setup is here:
http://androidhtc.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=androidhtc/device-vogue.git;a=summary

You can compile it yourself by doing:
Code:
repo init -u git://androidhtc.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/androidhtc/manifest -b froyo
repo sync
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch eu_vogue-userdebug (use "lunch full_vogue-userdebug" for all languages or "lunch us_vogue-userdebug" for only english and spanish)
make (use make -j 6 if you have 4 cores)

read http://source.android.com/source/download.html for instructions on setting up repo and git.

It needs to download over 2G of data and will take a few hours to compile.

I July 2010 I gave a talk about porting android, my slides are available here:

http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/android_talk.pdf
With a demo of Froyo here:

I've been having a look at Froyo and have built a very basic install image.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/2010-06-25/androidinstall-froyo.tgz/download

All I did was compile the latest aosp master branch and add the ril. Audio compiles (after a few changes) but doesn't work yet. HW3D works and the network probably works too. Calls and sms should probably work but it's not really ready for use yet. This is a very minimal image without any google apps just to show that it works.

You will need the 320x240 eclair kernel from today to test this because it does some new things with the 2D graphics driver.

Whoa!!!! You're starting it again!
You are great man!

Hi Dzo, tried froyo on my kaiser, it can boot into Android. While taking a call, the display become white and after that, my sim card broken. Poor me ! Wating for your fix. (At that time, try to contact network carrier to get back my sim).

first boot, it's freeze with black screen
so i remove new zimage 25.06 and start again with old zimage 22.06

noticeable change compare to Myn’s Warm Eclair - [RLS1 - 06/17/2010]

- very fast boot
- has problem with sdcard, says: no sdcard found
- camera not working, ooooooh
- app start first normal like Myn’s Warm Eclair
- but reopen apps start immediately
eg. phone app, first start 5 sec, second start 1 sec, another small apps start less then 1 sec
- small fonts are clearly recognizable

Just a minute ago I was wondering if Froyo will be here. Great news =)
Tried this build too, nothing except calls is working, but no black or white screens and hangs (pola100 actually, but I think that's ok for this thread, isn't it?), it runs definitely fast. If this is just a start, then the result in releases is very promising. Thanks dzo and all the devs who take part in here.

I don't wanna sound like a douche but I'm just way to excited...when can we expect a usable rom for everyday use? Eta?

Go to android.com and watch the Froyo 2.2 video. It looks like Eclair with a new launcher.

And dzo thank you again. I can't wait for audio to work on this and maybe camera. I'll donate $20 if you can make audio and camera work. Anybody else?

That's amazing. I'm using an Incredible now but still follow the Vogue since I used it for 26mo. I miss the Vogue community and devs.

It booted first time for me, only took 5 minutes install and everything. SD card wasn't recognized for me either. I'm sure when that's working a lot of other problems will go away. I couldn't load any apps to test performance because no Astro and no data, but I'm sure I could install Astro with adb or a androidupdate.tar no? Anyway good work dzo!

P.S. Have anyone noticed, that some ringtones (e.g. Digital Phone) ring only once? While still vibrating, and showing caller ID, the phone does not repeat the ringtone. I don't know, when it starts to happen, but it was in any ROM from July.

I had this problem as well, thought I'd share my finding and fix:

In OGG files I've found that there's an extra meta tag called ANDROID_LOOP which is set to 'true'. The Digital Phone ringtone doesn't have this tag, while others like the Classic Phone does (hence why the Classic ringtone repeats for incoming calls).

Here's what I did to fix this:

    - Download and install Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net)
    - Open the ringtone file in Audacity, note you can use mp3/wav files as well, Audacity can convert them into OGG.
    - Select Open Metadata Editor for the File Menu
    - Add a new tag called ANDROID_LOOP and set the value to 'true'. (See screenshot here: g-sel.com/meta_editor.jpg (I can't post external links, so if a mod would like to edit this post and make them links, please feel free.))
    - Click OK
    - Select Export from the File Menu and select the Save As Type format as Ogg Vorbis Files.
    - Click OK through File Save and Metadata dialogue window.
    - Copy the new ringtone file onto your phone and enjoy :)

You can also copy the new file over the existing one as well:

    - Open a terminal program (eg. Better Terminal from the marketplace) and run the following commands:

    $su
    #rwsystem
    #cd /system/media/audio/ringtones
    #cp <location of new ringtone> .
    #chmod 644 <new ringtone filename>
    #rosystem
    #exit

    - If you have added a new ringtone, ie. your own one not Android default, you will need to reboot the phone for the new ringtone to appear on the list.

Obviously change <location of new ringtone> and <new ringtone filename> to where you've saved the new file (eg. /sdcard/Ring_Digital_02.ogg and Ring_Digital_02.ogg).

PS. I don't think the CHMOD is really needed, but I like to keep things consistent so I do it anyway.

I wonder if Dzo still looks at this thread, though the Fresh-Froyo ROMS are updated frequently...thanks for that!
I know its too early to ask, but Gingerbread source would be released in a few days/weeks. I wonder if Dzo, or any other developer has it in mind to port it to the Vogue.

Yes, I still read this thread. I've been playing with the Gingerbread SDK a little and it should be fairly easy to port once the source is released (though this could be a while). If someone wants to get the SDK image running that shouldn't be too hard but the audio and/or camera probably wouldn't work.

Gingerbread isn't very different to Froyo but there are some performance changes that could help.

What is the RADIO firmware anyway - the microcode of the "wireless engine" (the Signal Processor chip for GSM/UMTS/WiFi) or a Windows Mobile driver to handle that engine?

Will the radio firmware remain if I flash Android to NAND? I mean, does Android use this firmware or does it come with it's own radio firmware?

I have no concept of the radio firmware's impact on the camera function. Does HTC use the same Digital Signal Processor engine for wireless and image processing tasks (like autofocus)?

BTW, PDA-Database lists various Chipsets for TyTN II:
    Phone+Controller: Qualcomm MSM7200 (QDSP4000, QDSP5000)

Obviously HTC has made different Hardware for different OEM vendors. T-mobile claims the MDA Vario III has a Qualcomm MSM7200 plus a SIRFstar III for GPS. I can confirm the Sirfstar since I used the SirfTech Tool to enable satellite based DGPS (Google: WAAS, EGNOS).

Will the 1.65.38.14 radio make any difference to my actual 1.70.18.02 ?

    Best regards,
    toshibashi

The radio firmware is ARM code that runs on the ARM9 modem processor. It's actually a Pistachio L4 OS. The modem processor loads firmware into the DSPs, only one DSP (the ADSP) is available to the applications processor (the ARM11) and once it is set up the ARM11 talks directly to the ADSP through a set of queues in shared memory. The ARM11 communicates with the ARM9 using remote procedure calls (RPCs). The ADSP is heavily used by the camera because this is the only hardware that is connected to the video front end (VFE). Different radio firmware will use different RPCs and load different code into the ADSP so may not work with our kernel. Anyway, though this is interesting (and still how QC devices work) it's all rather out of date since nobody is working on these devices any more.

I uploaded another unodex'ed build. Nothing new that I know of.
    Android 2.2.2 (Froyo), build FRG83G.
