I dont know if this is related to cyanogen or is it that the mopho wifi speed sucks but ever since i bought this phone iv been using cm9 and once i tried cm7.2 but i think it was the same. The thing is i come from an atrix 4g and i remember that my wifi speed was so fast that it was like being in my laptop or my pc, but with the photon wifi is sooooo damn slow that i spend almost 5 mins downloading a 3 mb app and i have a 10mb connection speed, so can anyone tell me if this is a photon normal thing or is it cm9 or cm7 and if there is anyway to fix it?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the phone or rom. I have a 20mbps home connection and my phone always goes over 20mbps during the speed test. Taking over 5 minutes to download a 3mb app???.there is definitely something wrong somewhere. My 3g is faster than that lol.

Battery charging and USB issue.

Am on Joker;s ICS 5.0.1 and I have been using his rom since 2.0 and from 3.1 have just been cleaning cache and dalvik. then installing whichever was the new ROM. But since 5.0 am having a very crappy battery life and if I let the phone die (0%), the battery doesn't charge back. I tried to use a USB connected to a PC (3 hrs on charge), plugged into a power socket (Overnight) and I even tried two other chargers and all those with no luck. I could tell that the power was getting to the phone as I had a steady white LED on all the time.

To fix (go around) this I had to remove the battery and charge it with an external battery charger, then once I put it back (30%) I was able to continue charging it using the USB cable.

Am I the only one with this issue? If anybody else did/does, how did you fix this.

AGAIN, this issue didn't manifest (at least I didn;t notice it) until I upgraded to 5.0 and 5.1.

I have a 40meg connection and I reliably get around 38 megs on everything except my mopho. It is usually in the 18-23 range. Thats with a Belkin 750play and the builtin pos centurylink router.

I guess you guys are right, something else is the source of my problem, i just tried speedtest.net and is showing me my 10mb of internet, but the thing is that every google app that i download from the market it gets downloaded soooooo slow, i just downloaded a game from the market which weight 20mb and it took me almost 45 mins
any ideas of what could be causing this?

I would have to agree with the above. I have a belkin 802.b/g/n wireless router connected to a cable modem and speedtest nets 24mb/sec average on any rom I try.

I'm an ICS craving MoPho-er!

It could just be the server from their end. Try running an internet download program like a torrent program and checking how fast that goes alongside an app download

Is there anyway to this rom to charge the phone while on a USB connection? It shows the little "lightning bolt" like it's charging, but I don't think it's charging.

It also won't boot into "charge mode" when I reboot it.

This is only when the phone is connected to a PC through USB.

After the SBF completes run a factory reset before you boot for the first time.

I'm an ICS craving MoPho-er!

Don't worry guys, I got this one! I'm a pro after this weekend.

If bootlooping after SBFing to stock:
  • Pull Battery
  • hold volume down and power
  • arrow down to android recovery
  • press volume up
  • you're going to get an exclamation like it failed, hit both volume up and down, it will go to stock adroid recovery
  • Once you're in recovery, do a factory reset. It'll take a bit, but it should load now
  • Once you're back on stock, re-root with the one-click
  • download ROM Manager from the market
  • From rom manager, flash the current CWM Recovery
  • Download Joker's Recovery v3 and save to your SD card
  • reboot into recovery again
  • install from SDCARD - Joker's recovery
  • Reboot Recovery again, from the CWM Recovery options, this will boot you into Joker's Recovery
  • Do a full wipe (system, data, cache)
  • Flash 3.1 which can be found a few posts back
  • Once you've flashed 3.1 and booted the phone, reboot into recovery again
  • flash 5.0 or 5.1 twice (I did it without wipe), without custom options
  • flash GAPPS
  • reboot the phone
  • Should have coverage now

And actually, I hadn't practiced what I preached above until now. Just had a chance to flash 3.1, and I can tell you I followed the steps above and it worked. Thanks to Fanboy Hunter, Acvice, and anyone else I forgot to mention. Your help has been appreciated. I am now back up and running 5.0 WITH mobile network and 3G. I've learned a lot the last TEN DAYS. Man, what a battle.

Hey guys,

I need some help right now.

I currently out of the country in hong kong without a laptop.

My joker cm9 rom .51 was running correctly with signal.

But for some stupid reason i messed with *#*#4636#*#* and i went from gsm/cdma ( auto prl) and then i chose gsm auto prl instead, and that's when all hell broke out and i keep getting "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" no matter what i do, format system/data/cache, i still get this.

I have the following files accessible through joker v3 cwm, please tell me what i can do in exact order:
Joker cm9 0.3.0
Joker cm9 0.5.1
Cdma fix 0.44
Gsm fix 0.44
Joker gapps v11

Sorry if what I suggested didn't work for you. I am still running this rom with data and mms from a clean install of 5.1 as per what I did in previous posts. 3.1 method does work though I did that the first time and just didn't wanna go through it the second time after reverting to stock and back. Worked for me anyway.

Okay due to the recent changes in cm9 install process I am writing a short guide from my phone. A longer version is planned and will be posted on my site.

If you wipe system you must flash the rom twice. Anyone that has followed long enough remembers the double flashing days till I fixed it. Well its back.

So to update from any cm9 rom with wipe

    Factory reset
    Flash rom
    Flash gapps
    Simple.

To update from any cm9 without wiping.

    Flash rom
    Flash gapps
    Simpler.

To update from cm7, miui, gingerbread, etc

    Wipe system
    Factory reset
    Flash rom
Flash rom again(notice it takes longer)
    Flash gapps
    Profit

    What about dalvik cache?
Well it sits on data and is checked every boot. If it detects a change it will erase the old cache and rebuild. So if you do a factory reset you erase dalvik cache. If you upgrade versions without a wipe it magically erases dalvik for you.

    What about data or cache?
Factory reset wipes data, cache, and apks installed on any sdcards.

Why should I only wipe system if coming from a non-cm9 based rom?
Cm9 has install scripts that copy certain noncm parts from system, installs then puts it back. If nothing is there it can't copy. Thus flashing twice.

    When do I flash gapps?
    Every single time.

    My battery sucks?
Cm9 handles a lot more open apps then gingerbread. Multitasking is spectacular with ics. However running 70+ apps at once turns your phone into my ex and literally sucks the life out of your battery. This explains why there is such a drastic difference between battery life's with different users. Also keep in mind that we are using a froyo kernel, drivers from 3 different devices and none are ics tegra ap20 based, and this is still beta.

So why do people get an attitude with me?
Because you don't search or read. I purposely don't hold peoples hand. You must read at least some. There is always a risk with flashing anything custom. The more I baby people the dumber the questions get, however once stable I'll dumb it down to anyones level and tweak it to death. Currently I'm only going for a fully functional cm9. Then comes the fun

Look this isn't a stable rom. Its not completed. Currently I'm trying to get sw encoding going for the camcorder. Right now that is causing the camera to run sluggish. Oc and you'll be fine in landscape. Camera does work. You people do realize we have no ics kernel or drivers? The fact that it works at all is pretty good considering how many devices out there don't have ics at all much less have camera.

When I get time I'll make some revert flashables for people that don't like new test builds. I don't want 500000000 posts of flash this revert to get cm9 working. If you need what that revert has fine just don't direct everyone to only do it your way.

This is a beta development project. I will be experimenting and breaking perfectly good stuff to find better setups. By the time I'm done cm9 will be close to perfect.
