Auto Brightness

In the past builds of Slim, my auto brightness was working better than in any previous ROM (smooth, consistent transitions and the ability to get much dimmer in low light conditions). I am on stock 2.9 now and I am having some issues. If I turn auto on, the screen responds as I expose it to bright light but it seems to stay in bright mode. If I expose it to dark conditions it does not dim. If I toggle the auto button in the same dark conditions, it goes dark and stays dark. If I shut off the screen, then back on it is instantly dim. Basically auto mode brightens but never dims. Is this just me? Any recommendations?

Experienced my first sleep of death last night.

So this issue I think in some way (as was suggested somewhere back in the thread) seems to relate to fully or nearly full batteries.

I ran for four days without having a single SOD power off/reboot issue when I was just car docking the cappy but never having it full charged.

Normally I do not charge my phone but use and external charger and two batteries swapping back and forth daily.

The SOD issues seem to happen with some consistency once a fresh battery is installed and then will cease to happen once the charge falls off.

I don't believe this issue is specific to this ROM as it has happened with other ICS ROMs like DOCs v5.

In the current config (last time I installed Slim 2.9) I flashed back to stock with a full wipe of the phone, re-rooted, verified the IMEI had stayed in place and did not switch the kernel. In the prior install of Slim I tried both the stock kernel and Glitch b5 with no obvious change in the behavior.

With that said it is running pure Slim 2.9 at the moment.

With a fully charged battery installed and then not using the phone (such as last night) it happened twice. Once before I went to sleep I hit the power button to wake it up getting the ATT bootloader image and it booted back up. Then left it. When I woke up a bit ago, hit the button, ATT and a boot. Battery still at 100% so... This has been a semi-consistent pattern with fresh batteries installed.

Since the clean wipe of the phone I have not set any overclock or undervolt.

Any thoughts?

After a full day on this ROM my battery died after 21.47 hours. Near zero use, 27 minutes of calls, maybe 3 minutes of texting and emails. Is this topical battery life?

Only one hour. And how it was on that much I have no clue. 100% of the calls were done by my car. Wirelessly.....

2. 9 clean install, reboot, full format of OS, then install again., with factory reset. I think the problem is the phone is not going into standby/sleep when not in use....

Anyone have problems with some apps not downloading from the market? They show up but it just stays stuck at "starting download"

I hope you're not complaining about 22 hours. I'm lucky to get 15 on a low use day

Hi all,

And update from my previous post, I did a clean install and I did not get the charge of death so far. Will test again tonight. What I have been getting (and not only on this room) is the sleep of death, the good it has only happend once in two day (battery level around 60%). I guess in part is my phone (build 1007) than other things.

Again great room and great tools within.

3.9 Released. I will say this, read the changelog and FAQ, before posting questions. If you find ppl posting without reading, just direct them to them the changelog page, don't give them the answer, its a few lines not that hard.

You need to d/l and flash Base, Device essentials and Slim Gapps. From next time on you just need to d/l base and device essentials as long as you don't lose Slim Gapps or i don't change it. Happy Friday Everyone!

NOTE: Read the changelog below carefully and the FAQ before posting questions .

    All Devices:

    • Apollo ( CM9) music compiled from sources - thanks cm team
    • Updated germant translations for DeskClock - thanks Basian Mile
    • Reduce processing in WebCore thread while scrolling and zooming based on this
    • External Webkit changes based on this, this and this.
    • Hide storage option in camera for devices that don't have external storage based on this
    • Don't try to create an ad-hoc network when no wireless network is available based on this

      trans.gif
    • CM9 Quiet Hours
    • New boot animation - thanks jeffyca at rootz
    • Basic gapps included in base is pulled and made a separate flashable zip, reason is two fold,
      • make google happy as they prefer this route and
      • they don't change often, so why bloat the base unnecessarily.
    • Whatever was in UpdateMe ( GenieWidget etc etc), Apps, Stays there,
    • Make sure to flash slim_gapps along with base and essentials to get working multi dpi playstore, gmail, talk, video chat, email and exchange. If you flash another gapps, you are on your own, don't complain apps are not compatible if you are not on slim gapps. This is the way moving forward, you can cry about if you want
