Just got the A510. And either its me or the tablet is bad. I can't seem to charge it. I plug the charger into the wall outlet and the cable into the micro usb port on the tablet and nothing happens. I tried it with the tablet on and off. Am I missing something here??

EDIT: Never Mind :)

You probably did the same thing I did....didn't push it all the way in lol

Is it just me or do you have to hold the power button until it vibrates? If I release it to soon it gets stuck on the Acer logo

Have to wait at least a month to see these in new Zealand, very frustrating. Nothing wrong with my a500, think I'm just addicted to upgrading

I did the same thing when I got mine Tuesday lol I finally figured out you have to push it in until it "clicks". By the way, is anybody working on rooting this bad boy? I don't see any talk about it in here or over at Acer Tablet Forums.

for that , we would need a dedicated A510 section..

little feedback:
lost some sleeping hours, but had great time playing with my new toy :)
no freeze or reboot as previous unit (defective). this one works smoothly
it don't see so many difference between the A510 and the A501 under custom ICS roms (was using Thor's one). both are silky working :)
but in some hardware demanding games, i see the difference. eg . cogs, riptide, ..
i still need to test shadowgun too.
i've watched some videos, and they are correctly displayed but it's not so efficient as i hoped. surely related to software, because switching to another soft change a lot de frame rate. i've tested so far bs player, mx player, vplayer
as always for me, mx player is my choice

for now, i'm happy :)

i'll do the comand above mentioned (in Terminal i suppose ?)

we all like xda but the fact that we still have to post under A500 is making it difficult. I don't know how many votes they need to open a A510 forum.
I would like to get my device rooted as soon as possible no matter how thats why I follow any thread in any forum.
Thanks californiarailroader

Come on over and join us at http://www.acertabletforums.com, we'd love to have you! I don't know why XDA isn't putting up more forums for us Acer users, I mean they have some forums for some VERY old and obscure devices, you'd think they could shrink or drop those and free up some space for us, they did for the A100 and A500, now we need them to do it for the A200, A510 and upcoming A700.

Thanx for the invitation. I'll consider joining once I get my A510. I liked very much the A200 handling it as demo and it was great to read there you found the A510 better on many aspects.
While there are few defective units we can't see until now any serious recurrent issues like for the Prime.

I had this problem as well. When I put the a510 in a case the entire bottom half of the screen became unresponsive. In a stand, same thing. As soon as I picked up the tablet it was back to normal.

    There IS a simple fix.

You have all probably tried changing the screen sensitivity in settings - this DOES work - problem is it doesn't work for the reason you think. The problem Is not screen sensitivity. I think it is that the touch sensor isn't initializing when the tablet is booted up.

When you change the settings in screen sensitivity it forces the touch panel to initialize - ie start up correctly, which it isn't doing on a reboot. The actual setting I don't think really matters.

Try this - reboot your tablet and then lay it flat on the table - or put it on a stand or in a case - you'll notice that the lower half of the screen becomes insensitive just like in the video.

Now, pick up the tablet, go into settings, and change the screen sensitivity from whatever it is to another setting ie medium to high or high to medium. Exit the menu, then go back in and change it again to whatever setting you prefer.

You have forced the touch sensor to initialize. Now put your tablet on the table or in a stand or case and you'll notice that the screen works normally. The bottom menus work fine.

BUT you must repeat this after every - reboot or the problem will return, because on reboot the touch sensor will again not start properly. Basically, it looks like you have to manually start up the touch sensor on this tablet - can't imagine how a problem this severe got overlooked.

On the good side, my tablet has been working fine in between reboots if I just follow these steps.

Oh, incidently, the fact that this fix works every single time for me, indicates that this likely is not a hardware problem. If the screen can be made to work correctly, then it CAN work - if Acer gets around to releasing a software fix for it.

wifi was working well, but did not have time to bench it
GPS no time for that now too,
    will keep you updated

FYI, an hard reset gave me a better stability ..

Just found this in another thread... good to know:

Just so everyone knows, this root kit also works on the new Iconia A510.
I just got my Acer Iconia A510 from Amazon this morning and decided to install the USB drivers and tried this rooting kit and low and behold I got full root access. :D:D:D:p:p:p

    Thanks ZeroNull!!!!

yep, but no internet access currently
for now, antutu gave me same scoring, but once was higher (around 10k)

i found that connecting my tab to the pc, then disconnecting it without unmount, gives me a really unstable tab..

anyway, the global feeling is that this tab will go back to acer, it's not stable at all,
    i miss my A501..
i thought i could have a really powerful tab, instead of that i've got a buggy tab..
