Those are the steps I followed to clean my phone's Dalvik without root or any custom recovery.
This method works only for KitKat versions of Android (4.4+)

1) activate Developer's Settings into Settings Main Menu
2) in Developer's Settings, switch from Dalvik to ART and let phone reboots
3) after reboot, wait till system load all widgets and apps, then switch again from ART to Dalvik and reboot again.

Done! :) Dalvik is now clean!

Tbh you'd have to be special to be the type of person who hangs around XDA and not know this.
