... Today i used a friend's iPad 2 to read a magazine... oh boy it was much easier reading magazines on the ipad! Huge difference!

'Been running the 4.16 build since... 4.16. Used to have occasional SOD's. Now, none. (!)
Same here.
First day of the update I ran all day without problems and then, late in the day, within 30 minutes of each other, I had two SOD's.
Yesterday none.
I've been pretty dutiful reporting my SOD issues since starting using this ROM several months ago. I finally did a full wipe before installing the 3/4/12 version, figuring there might be some left-over configuration settings that were causing the SODs. That may have fixed it for me.
But, I also simultaneously discontinued using Beautiful Widgets/Fancy Widgets, as these are also associated with SOD issues. Something with how they access wifi while asleep. After no SODs for several weeks, I restarted using Fancy Widgets, but without geolocation. This still worked fine.
On vacation last week, I turned on geolocation. This resulted promptly in a SOD the same day. After turning it off again (manual input of the city), I haven't had a SOD.
So, not exactly scientific, but a real narrative of my experience.
I flashed over the latest version this week, and it's been doing well since.
Thanks for the details. I'll have to keep an eye on this -- I just did a full wipe and re-install of this and currently am using Fancy Widgets too.
I just came back to this rom after trying CM9 for several weeks. Unfortunately, it's still really laggy on the Nook and I wasn't getting great battery life.
The changes seem great so far! I was getting constant status bar force closes, but I eventually wiped all data and it's been great so far.

I'm EXTREMELY impressed with the performance of the new 4/17 release. I was debating on selling the nook color due to sluggish performance.
Now after installing the CM7 Mirage CM 7.2 - RC1 4/17/12 build, and following the instructions by BitingChaos listed below.. my nook color turned into a speed demon!
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=24681708&postcount=14
"A few tips I try to follow to keep my Nook Color running as fast as possible:
- Stick with CM7.2 (and not CM9).
- Use LauncherPro as your launcher.
- Overclock to 1200 MHz (you may want to undervolt as well to offset increased battery usage).
- Keep compcache disabled.
- Use 16bit transparency
- Disable surface dithering
- Disable 32bit framebuffer (Nook Tweaks)
I've used over a dozen launchers (ADX, ADX EX, GO Launcher, Zeam, Lightning, Regina, Trebuchet, Nova, etc), and I always go back to LauncherPro. Nothing else is as quick and smooth as it is.
Opera usually is the quickest browser (Mini or Mobile).
Instead of using a browser for everything, try to find a dedicated app for it (such as your favorite forum, social site, or news site)."
Although quadrant scores aren't everything, I'll let the picture speak for itself
thanks for this, i will try,
How do we succeed with undervolt?
As i dont know what to change in the steppings.
Since in CM9 they basically "fixed" it by not letting the device go into deep sleep at all
I don't think thats true, the missing deep sleep is a bug, not a feature. And I think it's pretty much fixed with the newer kernel builds.

- Synced with CM to include the FC fix with rotation. No Statusbar FC on boot anymore. I had tested this fix earlier and it was not preventing the statusbar FC. Now works, I missed something apparently.
- Built an optional ROM with the full language set. If you don't need any other language than English(US) and Spanish, smaller ROM is recommended.

- Synced with CM to include the rotation animation fix. Thanks to kalltkaffe for this brilliant fix.
- Please upgrade to this build if you are on 01232012 build. No other rotation fix is necessary. We are using unchanged CM7 kernel again without the backported CM9 rotation fix.

- Based on Dalingrin's encore kernel, built a modular kernel by configuring the uncommonly used features (they are still available) as kernel modules. There seems to be about 20% increase in the free RAM (available to the apps and cache) after first boot on my nook. Any desire to tinker with CM9/AOKP builds? I know you build for personal use, but have you thought about starting an ics rom? Or are you waiting until the 3.0 kernel is fully functional? Your cm7 builds are super solid, just wondering what's holding you back from moving towards ics..
