I still have an eris I use for my kids on pageplus Wireless for GPS tracking with seekdroid. I have moved on to the rezound. But I still will use the eris for the kids and stuff like that as it is a small footprint phone. Thanks workshed for all your work. Your ROMs have always been one of the best. I flashed my eris 100+ times I bet and I always came back to your ROM's,

Are you still working on ROM's for any devices ?

turn around!
v4.5-Final
  • This will be my final release for this phone. It's been fun!
  • Sync'd with cm repos and freshly compiled
  • REMOVED the 3Dgallery: the ICS rotations borked it, download and install QuickPic
  • added all the ring lock styles
  • added disable scrolling-cache
  • added custom carrier label
  • added ICS transitions
  • added improved scrolling cache [ported from ICS]
  • made the ICS theme default upon initial flash
  • updated vending to Google Play
  • too much to list everything, check the cm nightly changelog for full details...
THINGS TO NOTE:

Gallery3D was removed in 4.5-Final because the ICS rotations added to the cm repos borked it.
Please download & install QuickPic after flash if you want to view pictures.

Do NOT flash gapps: it will remove Maps 5.2 and then you're on your own if the new Maps gives you problems.
Google Search icon is missing: just apply the "ice cream san" theme in the app drawer.

if this has already been covered then sorry but what are the options for people that had their maps updated from 5.2? I was still having issues with 5.2 rebooting so I figured updating couldn't hurt nor make it worse. Either way I'm trying to stop this thing from rebooting when using the navigator and it's been impossible for me even with 5.2 so any suggestions?

As far as I know there isnt a work around except for upgrading your phone. People tried for months to find a work around for this and nothing works.

I've gone back to my old opinion that at least part of the reason that nav apps cause a reboot sometimes is overheating. That doesn't necessarily explain why a fresh reboot before using a nav reboot seems to make them work a lot longer in my experience. FYI I use iGo My Way. I have long figured the only solution would be like he ^ said, upgrading my phone someday.

I didn't have time for more of a reply last night, but as long as you didn't do anything fancy like manually or use Titanium Backup to integrate your system updates into your ROM partition, then you should be able to go into Manage Apps through the normal Android interface, choose Maps, and there should be an option for Uninstall Updates, which will only uninstall the updates of course.

@Workshed, thanks for this last ROM update and all the ones before it, I hope to see you in another phone's forum someday when I get a chance to upgrade. I'm no contract currently so who knows when. I may even stalk you when I'm ready to upgrade to see what phone you're creating ROMs for at the time. :D Take care!

Thank YOU shed. I was just incredibly lucky enough to receive a free Droid X from a new friend who upgraded...so my Eris is sitting in my living room (with a cracked screen covered by protector, lol) looking for a use. a fresh GSB install with exactly what i want on it for the kids and such is just what it needs.

I appreciate all the work you did to squeeze every last ounce of ability out of this device.

Does anyone have an old but working Eris I can get from you? Mine has been having a TON of problems for a long time (mic doesn't work, neither does the charge port unless I get it JUST right, won't scroll left except by manipulating the USB cable, and if the power goes off I have to do a full wipe reflash, etc.) and last night it had another random restart, but when I got it started into recovery to wipe and reflash, I found now the trackball has given out entirely as well. Now I can't flash, wipe, anything. I need to get a new phone but without a job, I think I can get by for a while on a new Eris instead.
Also, I am sad to see you go shed, you have been the best dev ever. I hope the other phones get as much love as you crammed into ours. Since I will eventually go for a G2x, I hope maybe one day you might give them some love too.

I'll sell you mine. For pretty cheap too. $50 if you're interested. Original Box and Charger. Pretty good condition and fully functionally in every way. Running this rom but and older version since I've yet to update it. I have no need for it, sold my incredible and now hoping to sell my Eris? :)

Okay I can paypal you the funds, just make sure not to send it by UPS, as they seem to like to squish my packages. PM me your Paypal and I'll PM you back my address.

One thing. Once I get it, how do I activate it on my existing plan? Do I have to go to big V for that?

You can either call them or you can do it on verizonwireless.com, after logging in to your account. There is a big button on the bottom that allows you to activate the new phone. The box says "Activate or Switch Device". It'll ask you for all of the details.

No man, thank you! I still use this on my Eris, which is now serving as one of my "Universal Home Automation and Entertainment" remotes at home :)

I have a Rezound that has been needing some "shed" for awhile.. I really hope to see you in the Rezound forums soon! ;)

Thanks again for all your hard work.

The easiest way I know of is dial *221 I believe thats number. It'll prompt you to enter your info and what number you want to update then ask if you want to activate. It's a pretty simple process with step by step instructions in the call.

Pm sent

I think that only works under certain more traditional circumstances, like when you order an upgraded phone from Verizon, so they already know the ESN (electronic serial number) of the phone. On the website you can give them a new (to you) device's ESN (there's another term for it I can't think of, MEI or something???) that you didn't get directly from them.

@all, I've been using 4.5 for 24 hours and it's working great! Got some kinks out that were in the 7.2 beta or RC or whatever 4.4 was. :D

    • Fixed built in CM screenshot (hold power key and select in menu)
    • Updated fingerprint to 2.3.5

    • Still have home screen redraws after reboot, that so called "fix" isn't working, just use Zeps V6 script - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=991276
