Help! I need some body, not just any body.

Has anyone sucsessfully uploaded a custom Rom on there Verizon device.

I'm a little puzzled and stuck. When I go to upload a custom Rom like viper one or Nv project, I get blocked out of my radio on the phone. No cell service or even WiFi.
