I've rooted my 2X with SuperOneClick root and it worked fine, but when using the app Bloatware freezer i got a msg saying that it's still NAND locked or something like that and I dont have a clue what that means. Is it something i need to unlock also?

New issues :p

When I run the program it says it's a success - both with the rageagainstthecage and psneuter method..

But for some reason Superuser never pops up and gives access to my Root Explorer..

Any bright ideas?

Can't get this to work on 2.2.2..

The SuperOneClick 1.7 crashes on "Waiting for device"..

Anyone else getting this?

Use the psneuter option, I had the same problem with rage, psneuter worked instantly.

Optimus 2x, Unbranded, Android 2.2.2 (out of the box, no OTA)

All I did was:

Install LG driver (first post)
Open SuperOneClick 1.7
Select psneuter
Hit root
Check Superuser app

No reboots or shell root required.

Su is permanent, withstands a reboot.

Perhaps first post should be updated?

Works like a charm, installed titanium backup and restored my apps from my HTC Desire.
Gotta love how fast this all goes. Thumbs up!

okay im trying now in titanium backup to remove the IN CAR program, first i have done a backup of the program, after that i choose remove...

but when i choose remove it says i don't have a Backup of the program..

what am i doing wrong ??

i have the full paid version of titanium backup

You can try manually, I've just done it for like 15 apps:

Backup:
Code:
md system_apps
cd system_apps
adb pull /system/app/

Remove:
Code:
adb shell
su
busybox mount -o,remount -rw /system
stop
rm /system/app/CarHome.apk
rm ...
reboot

thanks...

Titanium does remove the apps i wanted to remove, no problems...

will you post which apps you have removed ??

AnalogueAlarmWidget.apk
AnalogueClockWidget.apk
AppAdvisor_v1.5.78_production_signed_aligned.apk
CarHome.apk
com_lge_christmassnowcity.apk
com_lge_lgfirework2.apk
cyon.apk
DigitalAlarmWidget.apk
DigitalClockWidget.apk
EmailWidget.apk
F-Secure_Mobile_Security_Android22.apk
LGEmail.apk
LGLauncher.apk
MessageWidget.apk
PreloadedApp.apk
SNS.apk
Stk.apk
WorldClockWidget.apk

More can come out... heaps more.

Some I reinstalled as normal apps to /data to play with and for easy future removal.

I also added back in my hacked ASOP Email.apk for exchange (no security) and AppWidgetPicker.

Getting there... but considering I had my own rom for my N1 there's a lot more to do... :)

Am finding some odd things here and there but nothing too mad... except it won't connect to my Wi-Fi home network with a complex password... make it simple and it's all good.

thanks for all your help...

I do have one more question if you can help...

when you remove all those system apps, could that not be a problem if your 2X crashes and you need to hard reset it or something like that ??

is it safer to remove the apps your way or is it just as good useing Titanium backup ?

I tried making a backup of the system apps i removed before i removed them but titanium backup just backed up the DATA, how do I backup the whole APP ? with titanium backup

No problems.

I'm not familure with Ti (I'm sure Pro will allow you to grab system apks), I use MyBackup. Nevertheless, the terminal commands I provided above will back up all of your system apps. You can push them back at any time after mounting /system read/write.

[ROOT] Super One Click - works with every ROM version (2.2.1 & above also supported)

    Hi everyone,
Here is a really brief tutorial, how you can get any Optimus 2x rooted via your computer and the SuperOneClick program:

PLEASE, READ THE WHOLE #1 POST, BECAUSE IT HAS SEVERAL GUIDES, SO YOU SHOULD TRY EVERYTHING BEFORE ASKING! DON'T SPAM THE THREAD IF POSSIBLE!

UPDATE: April 15th, 2014 - none of the links are valid anymore, and I don't have the files neither the Optimus 2x anymore, so sorry everyone, but it is pointless to keep poking this thread.

    1. Install the USB driver needed to have ADB access to the phone, you can download it from here:

    UPDATED: April 4th, 2011

    LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN32AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.2.exe
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M8OF7XGT

or if the link above doesn't work:
    http://www.multiupload.com/ZII8RRUXHR

    2. Connect your phone, enable USB debugging (Settings->Applications->Development)

    3. Run SuperOneClick
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=803682

    4. Choose root!

    5. Run the test in the end...and you will have it, you got root access on your 2.2.1 LG Optimus 2X device!

+1 I recommend you first uninstalling the Car Home app and F-Secure (if you are not using it) because it is highly responsible for freezes and instabilites (AFAIK).

If the tutorial above fails, here is djmcnz's method:
Use the psneuter option, I had the same problem with rage, psneuter worked instantly.

Optimus 2x, Unbranded, Android 2.2.2 (out of the box, no OTA)

IF YOU GET DRIVER NOT SIGNED OR OTHER ISSUES AT STEP 1, here is something that could help you:
    http://www.junefabrics.com/android/driver.php

One more guide, this may help you too (credit goes to Maliacrete):

For all those who get stuck at "waiting for device" with the SuperOneClick try running it as an Administrator (right click, Run as Administrator) or follow these:

    a) make sure your phone is "seen" from your pc under hardware (http://www.junefabrics.com/android/driver.php). Follow the instructions here. If needed install your drivers from the link on the bottom of the junefabrics page.
    b) Download the PdaNet from here (http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php), when prompt to replace the drivers, press NO.
    c) if at this point the PdaNet istallation tells you that it cannot detect any phone you need to go back to the drivers problem. No correct drivers (debugging), No root.
    d) Run the SuperOneClick and it will surely do the job.

You can also get some more infos on here (http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/11/how-to-root-your-android-phone-superoneclick-method/)

Is it possible to delete lgemail apk and use the standard email client from android. Will it be necessairy to install the original apk and can i extract this from my nexus one?

Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App

I use this one, device admin disabled (just accept device admin permissions, none are granted). It's a recent ASOP build with Colours and GAL lookup.

Edit: Yes, it's safe to remove LGEmail.apk

    Code:
    adb push Email.apk /sdcard/
    adb shell
    su
    busybox mount -o,remount -rw /system
    stop
    cp /sdcard/Email.apk /system/app/
    reboot

    All good... hit thanks... ;)

I cant get the drivers to work, DL the latest from LG (3.2) but I get a "not digitally signed" error. I'm running Win 7 64-bit.. I tried fu**ing everything. :p Can someone confirm it works on win 7 64 bit, in that case i'll guess i'll do a format c: :p

Edit: Found some drivers that worked here: http://www.junefabrics.com/android/driver.php so if you're having the same problem like me, just try those. :)

If you had read the thread, you would've seen I also had this problem. With this problem I mean that Android Platform Sooner Single ADB Interface driver was unsigned. Try remove all drivers and ****, and then DL these drivers. http://www.junefabrics.com/android/driver.php GLHF!
