Torch isn't going to work until camera does, and its proved to be elusive.. I wish we'd get a leak!

Thank you for a great work!

I have found a couple of issues that you may check out if yiealds to other tabs or if it is just to my tab.

1. The torch does not work and makes the launcher to halt, then the launcher restarts and restores itself (without the tab restarting).
2.. By charging the telephone in Shutdown mode with wall outlet cable, the battery animation runs. After some seconds the creen dims in two- thre steps until it turns off. Then the screen lits up fully again and cycles this procedure. Is it a bug or a feature? It might be best if the screen dims down to the stage off or to the level before off to charge faster and not to have a discodance when charging in the night :)
3. What does the file "Unicorn Porn" do? Strange name for a ROM-file ... Is it a jokeful name or a harmful file that has infected my tab (same logo as the Rom Control). Edit: I guess the file has something to do with boot animation that does not work on mine when toggle off not bootanimation. Maybe separate bootanimations have to be installed...
4. When using SetCPU, the voltage control in the performance menu under Rom Control does not show proper values. It is however only a minor case as they show properly in SetCPU.

Thanx again!

Thanks!

Thank you for the response so far I'm happy Galaxian-Soup was able to provide you this, I myself like this allot, however I will continue to switch back and forth between our roms.

To clarify again, we will be developing both roms to offer you choice.

They are both based on the device tree and superb kernel of Motley, its why they both work great.

Our first rom, is nearly pure AOSP (Android Open Source Project), we've kanged a few features here and there but its as close to what Google kicks out the door as you are going to get. We are preparing a new build on this to be released shortly.

This rom is based off Roman's AOKP (Android Open Kang Project), his project is meant to rival Cyanogenmod in terms of mutli-device support, and unique features. I spared you one "feature" and that is the boot animation, wasn't for us, but its there as an Easter egg as it were, if you use root explorer etc and go to /system/media and rename the file in there back to bootanimation.zip and reboot you'll see what I mean, hah, no offence to roman or his pink unicorn but it kind of frightened me when it first booted rofl.

torch worked in latest CM9!
maybe have a chat with kallt to see how he got it working...

I believe I know which kernel patch is required....we can check it out for the next build. It never applied for us before, but now it does!

Guys, any chance you can also include the latest Bluetooth and wifi fixes from Cyanogen next time out? I've been Bluetooth tethering my phone to my tab in CM9, which is the killer app that made me switch from your ASOP. If your AOKP had this I'd be straight back.

What exactly are the differences to the AOSP version? "More bells and wistles" doesn't mean anything to me. Maybe you should show some screenshots in the opening post.

The AOSP (and also CM9) version is too "naked" for me. A lot of options/ features of the Samsung stock rom are missing. That makes this AOKP version very interesting. But it would be good to know what additional options/functions it has.

There are my differences between cm9/aosp/aokp, far more than can be explained in one post. Check out the aokp site ( http://forum.aokp.co/ ) or other threads on xda for more info.

Hope that helps

MTP issue

I seem to have lost the ability to connect with my PC. I'm sure it is a simple fix but could someone please refresh my memory. I had this issue before and resolved it but forget how. It will show up as an MTP device on Win 7 but neither PC or Mac will show in the finder/explorer so I can transfer files. My Kies drivers are current and it worked before on the same machines. Now that I think about it this is the first time I connected this replacement tablet as my old ones screen died.

Thanks in advance - love the ROM

Is there a native way to enable a screen capture? I've looked everywhere for the setting to enable and can't find it.

It occurs to me that perhaps this was too brief to be useful so I'll elaborate.

At the moment on both Galaxian Soup ROMs you cannot do Bluetooth tethering - either from 3g tablet to other device or from phone to tablet. It all looks as if it should work in that the devices pair fine and on the tab it says "connected to device for internet access" but you cannot get any actual connectivity in any apps.

This issue was also affecting CM9 until their latest release, where it has been fixed.

It would turn GSoup back from a ROM I'm keeping an eye on to a daily driver again if the fix from CM could be rolled into your 2 ROMs.

I think this may be kernel related - I haven't tried using kalte_kaffe's kernel on GSoup yet to see if that fixes it but will when I get a moment.

Yes, motley is trying to fix this. He already sent me a internal beta (AOSP version) for testing that had the fixes, but unfortunately it didn't work as good as it should have.

and still no update for 3g from galaxian soup.
    oh man...

i'm pretty sure most of the devs have a real life, job & better things to do than build roms for each release...
be patient. its free! if you don't like it figure out how to build and compile the rom yourself.
sorry if i sound kinda mean but people complaining about devs not releasing stuff, when the devs do it in their own time and for free kinda pisses me off...

With the greatest of respect, I did read all the posts, I've been following since the beginning. I was wondering with the AOKP folks being on build 32, whether or not we would be getting an upgrade.

Yes, I have a concern like everyone else about the camera but I know that's a problem across all ROM's. However if this one wasn't being developed, then it would not have a camera...not ever. There is no law that a ROM has to be developed forever.

We've been working on the camera for all gtab 8.9s (we would immediately share with all rom builders), but its not as easy as snapping your fingers. I personally have spent 12+ hours attempting to adapt the ICS wrapper (which has little to no documentation and isn't even for our SOC).

Blame samsung for their lack of expediency in releasing the source code or a rom. Once that happens (or a miracle of programming genius) we will add the camera support post haste.

For the record we will continue to develop this and the AOSP rom (and perhaps another), we have the experience to bring you quality. We hope you continue to appreciate our effort's, my build env is fixed so updates will come faster.

    Ciao
