NFC

Hi everybody,

I want to have some of your opinions about this Subject.
If i have a rooted phone with a custom rom, Can i use the NFC as if i had the stock Rom (Operator: Orange in my case).
Because, with this stock rom when the NFC as enabled i did see an icon in my notifications bar. Now when it's enable with my new custom rom, it doesn't appears.

Thank you for all your answers
Sorry for my english, i did my best.

Tim

This is the wrong place, completely for this. Try the SGS3 forums. And it would seem to me, that the best way to check would be to try to scan something. I'd assume something with your custom ROM removes the icon. Just give it a test.

Also, back to the thread, I think you can scan some hotel cards. Not super useful, but it's interesting and fun to see what happens/whats on em ;)

You can read Bulgarian passports, it returns some data, that can not be seen unless you got a pin or key to restore everything on place.

tried it just now with my HOX and im not too sure what kind of app to use to read it so i got a bunch of them.

in theory, could i read the data off my oyster, and then write that data to a new tag, and then stick that tag on say an iphone and use it as my oyster card?

That would be pretty cool, being able to have something like that.

I asked about that with the Hong Kong Octopus NFC payment cards.
Its a negative as the card should have encryption and stuff to prevent this from happening.....

Reads italian passport too, but without returning back nothing, only makes the sound ndicating that the phone found something. It should be useful for police to know if passports are true or no :p

the Mcfit Membercard and the Austrian passport

i read out my data of the passport with that app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.mroland.android.apps.nfctaginfo&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImF0Lm1yb2xhbmQuYW5kcm9pZC5hcHBzLm5mY3RhZ2luZm8iXQ..

then menue and setup access keys. insert your passportnumber, birthdaydate and expire date of the passport and if you scan the passport now the data can be read.

OP missed the obvious, custom nfc cards.
It can scan my barclaycard.

Also, has anybody tried scanning a phone with google wallet? Wonder if an nfc app picks it up.

I think if you buy a product called a custom NFC card/ tag you would already know that it can be scanned and how to use it. This is a list of everyday items you can scan.

How do you find nfc scanable stuff?

Sent from my GT-I5700 using Tapatalk 2

I'm guessing touching your phone to everything you suspect of being scannable.

Just out of curiosity: if I were to create a database where everybody could read and add new tags, would you use it?

You all have done a great work already, but I was thinking of doing something more, which means adding the type of NFC tag, the location and other useful info (like keys, notes, and so on), so that everybody can look up on the database using the filters they need.

Would you like me to work on it :)?

yes, the antenna is located within the battery. The actual NFC chip is located within the actual device it self.... that's how it works
