When I'm bored and browsing through my apps on my app drawer. I don't have much shortcuts on my home screen, only widgets on my home screen so I would be accessing apps through the drawer 95% of the time (or from status bar)
It's very dependent on your organisation.
An option might be a better solution but it will make the launcher massive to customize.
It is indeed very dependent on your organization, and I'd have to say your case is the exception, not the rule.. I think it is safe to assume that the general case is where the user would open the app drawer if they have one specific application in mind.
Also, an option can't possibly be that difficult to implement (it would just require having the app drawer closed upon returning to the homescreen, just like what happens when you press the home button now), and it wouldn't affect your user experience at all if you don't touch the option. That being said, what do you mean by "it will make the launcher massive to customize"?
