I'm new to this whole official CM nightlies and stuff. All I ever had were unofficial ports that came when the developer of my old devices managed to work. Is there anything wrong if I update every nightly?

And I've searched a bit but was unable to find any relevant info. Is auto brightness working for anyone? Doesn't seem to work for me :(

Woah. Anyone confirm this working? I haven't been on cm in a while but would love to see this on our phones but don't really wanna bother flashing if its just for other phones and does nothing for ours

It's just software rendering, so it's not impossible, but either way it's just half assed HDR rendering made of 2 different exposures. It's pretty much hit or miss even with much better cameras than the Nexus S one. Definitely more novelty than anything else.

Hey, passive reader for 1 week, 1st time poster :)
Got a nexus s 2nd hand in mint condition. tried last stock for 1 day, another 10.0 cm, and jumped to nightlies after that.

Does anybody get battery usage of around 40% just for the screen also?
I've been using the last 2week nightlies under normal usage.
Get out of home at 8, and when I get back at 17h my phone is 15~2% really dying.

Thank you too all you who contribute! :victory:

The question now is would you want HDR or Photosphere?

And the HDR for this is too difficult to do. You'd need to hold the phone perfectly still for it to work properly

You only need to worry if you have high Android OS usage. Screen is the biggest energy consumer so 40% isn't that odd. How much screen time do you usually get anyway?

I consider that 3-3.5 hours of screen time on Jelly Bean is OK, especially if the battery is older.

I am using the screen around 4h/day or more around the University (mostly PDF reading and web browsing), so I guess that's it, and the battery is the stock one (purchased in the last summer), and from what I've read the stock one isn't the best one.
I don't know either the kind of usage the previous owner of the phone gave to the battery.

Thank you for your insight.

HDR is REALLY hard to get it not to blur since the algorithm is just a "simple average between all pixels" (can't post link yet [Noob with <10posts], see changelog for "[1/2] Camera: add software HDR rendering"). There is no feature point algorithm for fitting the images together yet. Waiting for Reinhard's alg.
Photosphere have to re-install every single nightly.
Right now I'm sticking with the one that comes with the package :)

3 hours? I've never seen that much screen on time. I get 1h45m on average. Don't think I've ever even hit 2. I have Maps frozen and gps off. Don't even have Facebook installed. Sync is always active and I'm on wifi all day. The only way I can see someone getting that high is with sync off and manually updating.
