I just upgraded to the new ICS hboot and radio running the newest cleanrom. My 3g speeds are unbelievable slow. Does anybody have any thoughts about this. I followed the directions not sure what went wrong.

It's not really that anything went wrong, it's just that the radios are either settling or you should switch back to what you had before. Try rebooting and seeing what your scores are then. If that doesn't work wait a half and hour with auto sync enabled and try again. If you get the same results flash the radio you had before. Personally the 5-7 leak gives me the best scores.

I have the new 5-7 leak:

hboot 2.25
Radios 1.22.10.0421r/1.22.20.0424r

I did the whole s-off thing on the wife's and installed the newest ICS Hboot and Radios after the s-off steps. She has just over 2mb download and .96 upload on 3g. I have DSL wifi at home and she gets 19mb dowload and 12mb upload, I get 4.5mb dowload and 2mb upload. Plus when in Phoenix she has over 26mb download and I only get 7mb download. Not sure what happen, but I do know when I s-off'ed, I downloaded the GB Hboot and upgraded to the new ICS leak. When I did her's I used the ICS Hboot and then upgraded to the newest ICS leak. I did uploaded the new firmware patch to both phones. I have turned to restart the phone a few times and turn internet data off and on, plus the same with wifi. The only thing I have not tried yet was to downgrade back to GB Hoot and Radio, then re-install the newest ICS Hboot and Radio. Not sure if that would help or not.

My suggestions would to be flash the radio hboot set you want on your phone, flash the stock recovery and factory reset in the bootloader
This will wipe your internal sd so back it up
If this doesn't work let me know and we can try some other things

I want to make sure that I understand this correctly.

I'm going to flash the new leak which will be renamed PH98IMG.zip. Then I will put it and the new firmware patch on my sd card. I then boot into recovery and flash the ph98img.zip and then the new firmware patch. Will I need to reflash the rom I'm currently on? Also do I really need to do a wipe/factory reset before doing all this? Will doing any of this wipe my sd card?

Sorry for all the questions. Just want to make sure I have everything down. Thanks.

Assuming you originally flashed your ROM from the GB patch then I would highly recommend reflashing after you get the ICS firmware.

Ok so Im trying to understand everything.

First off currently I'm S-Off, on the GM firmware with the JB hboot 2.11. Im running cleam rom Dev edition using the ICS firmware patch. I'm having some battery life issues so the suggestion was made to upgrade my firmware. No heat issues that I can tell and signal and 4G speeds are great though.

Now I don't know why, Im new to all this, but I was thinking I would have to RUU. Instead I just would run the: DOWNLOAD ICS ORIG W/ JB 2.21 HBOOT and that would get me on the new firmware right? What about the new radios and all that though? Or do I not need them?

After that it says something about stock recovery, do I also need to flash that? Keep in mind that I will also be flashing Amon Ra. Do I need to reroot? Im assuming so.

Once all that is done then I will reflash the ROM.

What is the new firmware patch for? I dont get that. Is that to run GM roms on ICS firmware?

I think that covers everything. Sorry about all the questions, Id honestly rather ask some rather then brick my phone.

You can just flash the new firmware contained in the OP. If you do flash the RUU, you don't need to root, just flash a rooted ROM afterwards.

After that it says something about stock recovery, do I also need to flash that? Keep in mind that I will also be flashing Amon Ra. Do I need to reroot? Im assuming so.

RUU leaves you with stock recovery. Since you're s-off, you can just flash over the recovery of your choice.

The opposite - the patch allows you to run ICS ROMs on GB firmware. However there is a tool to "unpatch" so you can recover nandroids made with the patch.

Hope this helps. It's my best understanding and others can verify.

Thanks, once I get home I'll clarify a bit more

yes it would upgrade your firmware, radios, and hboot.
so the radios are included and i suggest not to mix and match them

After that it says something about stock recovery, do I also need to flash that? Keep in mind that I will also be flashing Amon Ra. Do I need to reroot? Im assuming so..

if you have data issues then yes but only if you have issues

these hboot zips preserve the rom and data so there is no need to re root but depending on the one you flash you might need to reflash the recovery

Once all that is done then I will reflash the ROM.

What is the new firmware patch for? I dont get that. Is that to run GM roms on ICS firmware? .

the new firmware patch is for those who ran an ics rom and used the old firmware patch on their current rom
the new firmware patch will fix the sdcard mount points and fix the audiolib that causes the phone to reboot
so if your on a ics rom and flashed the gingerbread firmware patch id suggest flashing the new firmware patch

I think that covers everything. Sorry about all the questions, Id honestly rather ask some rather then brick my phone.

let me know if anything isnt clear, im here to help :p

Two quick questions...

S-Off (with regular stock hboot - didn't do JB hboot), on clean rom 4.5, used the GB firmware patch...

1. Flashing the new firmware patch will give me the newest hboot and radio (from 5-7 leak) correct?

2. in doing that, that remains a stock hboot yes? After running the new firmware patch, can i then run one of the combo's for the ENG or JB hboot? and do those combo's contain the newest radios?

thanks

and holy hell do i need to change my signature lol...

1. No the firmware patch is just a recovery patch to fix Rom issues
If you want the hboot radio combo for the 5-7 leak then download that from Android file host and flash in hboot
2. I think the above answered this as well

Thats perfect thanks a lot.

One thing though. If I actually wipe and reflash the ROM, which I think I'm going to do just to be sure about other issues I'm having, I shouldn't need to worry about that new firmware patch right?

But if I don't want to wipe I wouldn't necessarily have to, but then I would need to run the new firmware patch.

    S-OFF DEVICES ONLY

I WILL ONLY SAY THIS ONCE, IF YOU HAVE DATA ISSUES FROM SWITCHING FIRMWARES YOU MUST FLASH THE STOCK RECOVERY AND PERFORM A FACTORY RESET IN HBOOT

DO NOT S-ON THE ENG OR JB HBOOT OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE

ANYTHING DONE AT THIS POINT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY NOT MINE

    So what is this?
Well ill answer that, these are Hboot/Radio/Firmware Combos

What do you do with these?
The purpose of these is avoid performing a full RUU if you would like to upgrade or downgrade firmwares/radios

So why do these include Hboot/radio/firmware files, cant we just flash the radios?
NO, mix and matching all of these has be known to cause data issues. Its best to flash the whole set to prevent data issues

    How do you flash these?
Assuming you checked the MD5 sum, just rename these to PH98IMG.zip and place on the root of your external sdcard

    New firmware patch huh?
This is simply for those upgrading to ICS firmware on a GB rom Or and ICS rom that had the gingerbread patch flashed over it

Whats the difference between the stock Hboots and the JB/ENG Hboots?
Simply, These Hboots have fastboot commands enabled WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader
I suggest if you use fastboot alot to use these hboots

Thanks to CharliesTheMan i now have a spot on AndroidFileHost :D

Heres how to tell which file you need

Each file will be named accordingly

[Firmware][Hboot version][JB or Stock hboot][Date of leak if applicable]

So an example would be [GB][2.11][JB]PH98IMG.zip

i suggest you check the MD5 and if you dont know what an MD5 is then you need to research what it is before flashing any of these

    Here's the Link: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=3054

Thanks to the JuopunutBear Team for getting us S-off, Jcase for the leaked Hboot

I'll update this to the new ota either tomorrow or Monday
Whenever my home internet gets installed

Afterwards I might not update this anymore unless people request it since I've changed phones

I might see if another method done on the one x forums works for our device, if so these may become flashable in recovery

Bumping this old thread, ive updated the link to the new android file host. He removed the md5 calculator on the old site so i transfered over so you can see the md5's

not sure if these are still in use but if the are there you go!

Give me a day or two, there's been a couple people posting just radio update files in the mean time.

Thank this guy for helping me!

All the files are on AFH
One is the complete firmware combo with the stock 2.27 hboot and one with the patched 2.25 JB for those who need fastboot
