That's cool.
So what's keeping the sch-1500 from 4G? Is it lack of the proper hardware?

Yes. The SCH-I500 "Fascinate" is a CDMA 3G device. There is no hardware support for Verizon's LTE "4G" network.

FYI, I've given up on the "GeeWiz Player" concept for now. Trying to get the YP-G1 ROM (Galaxy Player) to work properly has proven to be as hard as removing the phone/CDMA options from the stock EH03 ROM for me. These are changes above my skill level.
I think I would be better off and spend less time porting AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich to this device, and of course that's already been done, making the effort somewhat moot. The only value-add I can think of would be to bypass the "MTD" nature of all the current high-level mods and make something that would work with the stock partitions and RFS, but that doesn't seem like something anyone would want
I have one more idea to try, that would be to code up a custom RIL (Radio Interface Layer) that just kills CDMA/Phone and allows other things to work, but that would still feel like a pretty big hack that doesn't add a lot of value for anyone. What do you guys think? I gave it a couple tries and it's just not working out. Is this something that would really benefit us as our devices become obsolete and get replaced, or is this just a waste of time? I would honestly like to hear your opinions ...
FWIW, I am also working on GeeWiz 2.8, which I expect to be the final EH03/Gingerbread/GeeWiz 2.x release and is looking more and more like the "end" to GeeWiz altogether. I'm going to add some scripts to deal with the newer experimental kernel settings as requested and I have a really cool custom boot animation that was made for GeeWiz that I've yet to share, but unless Samsung releases that "Value Pack" for the Fascinate in the near future (which I find extremely unlikely), I think this may be it. I honestly believe that my contributions have run their course, and frankly it seems the lionshare of folks have understandably moved on from the Fascinate (or at least Gingerbread) at this point. All good, I'm very content knowing that for a short time I was able to make a few people's lives a teeny bit better
I am a closet Crack Rommer. I have been following you and Nitsuj for quite some time, and I must say, I know a great rom when I see it, and this is a great rom. The only other rom that has come close to its stability is Powerwash, stopped back September of last year. Hardware, functionallity, size, comfort in hand, ease of use, ease of modification, viewability...etc, the Fascinate is by far the best phone I have ever had.
I have been able to upgrade my phone for several months now, and cannot find a phone that has anything better than my phone going for it, except 4g. 4g is very nice, but not worth another 2 year contract or $499 in costs. As my wife said, about a Verizon commercial that says "That was so 29 seconds ago." She replied, "So this means I would have to wait a whole 29 more seconds than them? Not a good sales pitch."
Anyway, off topic, sorry. To get to brass tacks about your comment that people are moving on to bigger and better things, and away from the Fascinate, or GB at least, I cannot help but wonder how many are still dedicated to the Fascinate. Some people may just like to play with their, phones, but mine is my only phone and means of phone communication. I have never had a replacement, but have rommed this phone over 200 times, I am sure. Have "Potentially" bricked about 50 of those times, but the Fascinate is a beast when it comes to getting it back up. Even with an EFS clear in Odin. A quick call to Verizon, and I was back up with 3g.
Now, as for those whom have moved onto other roms, like AOKP, ICY, Gummy, and whatnot, I have been flashing all of those since build 27, and still have not found a rom that I feel completes EVERY task that I desire. In short, I ALWAYS return to a GB rom. If it isn't, Stock, it is Geewiz. To put it mildly, I see AOKP has potential, but it still doesn't give me that "comforting" feeling I get from a touchwiz rom, namely yours. Even Gps is workable. So, what I am saying is, if you decided to keep running builds on this rom, you have a loyal updater right here, as long as my phone's hardware still works.
Thank you Djp952
I don't believe your efforts are a waste of time at all. I for one would love to have a rom that turns my phone into strictly a media player. Weather using voodoo sound or dsp manager, music on this thing sounds great and I will always use it to that end.
Oh and scarfmon, don't be afraid of ics, aokp is a dream. Phone flies now.

How do I re-enable the battery full popup and put back on the stock battery icons, and disable the bootup/shutdown chime?
I have tried the hidden menu codes to re-enable the battery message but that does not work.
Any help anybody?
To reenable the full charge sound, go to Settings>Sound settings and check Charger Activation.
To disable startup sounds go into /system/etc and rename or delete PowerOn.wav.
To disable shutdown sounds go to /system/media/audio/ui and rename or delete PowerOff.wav.

Thanks for the help, any ideas about the stock battery icons?
again thanks.

scarfman has the important bits totally covered above, but I just wanted to add that it's not possible to re-add the full battery pop-up notification with the GeeWiz ROM, it's been disabled in the source code. You would pretty much need to run stock to get this back, it's the first thing custom ROMs will kill off on you.
Out of curiosity, why would you want this notification? There is no real reason to unplug a fully charged Fascinate as the battery charger will disconnect at 100% anyway (this applies to both stock and custom kernels). Custom kernels like the GW kernel may kick the charger back on when the battery falls to a certain level to mimic how the device behaved with Eclair/Froyo, but even in those "olden" days the notification was seemingly useless.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult or flame you here. I'm just curious as to the rationale behind wanting the notification and what value that adds for you ... if I can be made to understand the usefulness, I can perhaps add an "extra" that re-enables it. No promises on that, you are honestly the first person that has ever asked to put it back, and that includes Mrs. djp952!!
djp,
thanks for this kernel and will be using the new one once it is available. Thanks for not putting links into the ROM as I use the TSM Resurrection 2.2 ROM. This makes a very solid combination for me. My Fascinate works the way it should have when purchased FINALLY with this combination. I used your older GeeWiz kernel and ROM which worked well for me, but like the look and feel of TSM 2.2 ROM better. Good to have choices ;-)
