this bug and solution is by Dredd :

Also in this WM6 new rom still there is the bug of the name of serial cable on Com1.
It can cause some connection problems if people want to connect a cable gps receiver for example.
It can be easy fixt (again) as follow:

Start an registry editor, for example resco registry editor.
Go to the following direction:
HKey_Local_Machine\Drivers\Builtin\Serial

you see an "ab" file called "friendlyName" in Greek (!) language

Change the string named friendlyName to "Serial Cable on COM1"

That's all ! Now you can connect also through cable... Enjoy

I had a small bug that prevented some programs to connect to the Internet via ActiveSync (Resco Update, IM+...). So here's what I did: updated ActiveSync to 6.1 and applied the above fix for COM 1. Then it worked fine after a soft reset.

Also, it seems WM6 eats a bit more of RAM doesn't it ? Not to worry, just something like 1MB ;)

Edit : Actually, more like 2MB :p Still, much faster... so who cares ;)

SSL issue

Ok the issue with all SSL connections (active sync, IE, probably windows live)
is not the certificate but the way the device is seeing those connections.

for example if you go to
gmail.com in IE you will get a message saying that certificate has an issue asking you to accept it. It says everything is ok except the name does not match on the certificate and what the device is seeing. This is probably the problem with all the other secure connections (live and active sync)

Errrrr... Guys ? Big problem here. Internet connection via ActiveSync is very very slow (can't watch live TV with 14 Kbps). Anyone has a fix ?

Messaging problems?

Anyone else having problems adding a new account to messaging? I can't sync inbox via activesync, nor add a POP3 account. I did a full restore with sbp backup, and until now it llooked like it worked. I'm thinking of hard resetting to see if the restore broke the messaging. Should I?

EDIT: I did a hard reset and messenger (Mobile Outlook) syncs via activesync to PC (not exchange) and I can add new accounts. Looks like full restore from backup was the cause of my problem. I recommend not to do full restore with SBP backup.

NO Sound.. Speaker not working

Hello All,

Did the upgrade of Football ROM WM6 A01

img-48127-A01_RTM_By_Football.rar

Now i tried the hardreset, it did the up grade but problems with speaker. NO sound. I tried playing with WMP and the Mortplayer no sound. I can see it reading the mp3 file, but no sound. I went to sound notification and tried to have hardware sound set but nothing.

I'm doing another download and hardreset, but if u know anything more about this problem please do let me know.

Thanks in advance.

ps. i do notice that over speed with which the OS is working. I hope it's not because the speakers are not working. :)

***** Update ********

I reasoned that maybe it was the speakers and i tried to listen the music via headphones. The headphones work.

So sound is not effected, my speakers are.

Now i'll try to reinstall a17 and see if i can my speakers back. if not, then i know it's a physical problem and not the program.

Just curious, how does that work, are headphone and speaker on the same type of drivers or different drivers etc.?
