Did you disable automatic weather updates? Try opening the Weather app see if it's updated. Your weather should now show up in the notification bar.

Depends which Hboot you have. I had 2.14 and had to downgrade to 1.09 because I could not flash radios. It would flash in recovery but no change in the OS.

Music Playback

Im not sure if this is a bug with the rom itself or the jelly bean software, but whenever I am in an area where this is little to no signal my music playback does not work correctly. It will start skipping songs by itself and even fast forwarding the songs. This is both with the sense music app and also the google play music app. Now the reason why I believe it is an error of jelly bean is because I have tried it on cm10 and it also had the same problem. I tried to google to see if I can find something where its stated that there is this problem on the jelly bean software, but to no avail. I was wondering if any body else had experienced this issue, and if any body have found a fix. Thank you.

Btw, im trying a different rom right now. Will report back.

Hrm... so I'm not the only one then.

Cranking my voltages to "absurd" levels does actually indeed help with my speaker crackling. Oddly enough, I can only say I've noticed it when playing videos on my phone, as opposed to listening to music (though, I most often listen through headphones when it comes to music).

By "absurd" though, I mean much higher than what my phone needs to be "stable."

For example, my phone functions fine even at 800 mV for the most part. It MIGHT catch a random reboot every few days at that voltage, but never any at 825 mV, and I run 850 mV for stability sake. However, in order to stop my audio from crackling, I require a voltage of at least 900 mV, and only at 940 mV or so does the crackling pretty much "stop." There might be a few sporadic pops, but they're minutes apart at that voltage.

Though to be more specific, my device actually prefers "chirps" to crackling lol.

DONE. Seems smooth and fast. Easy to root. I will keep an eye on battery life and see how it goes.

Hi Pablo, also a Telstra user in Sydney. How did it go? What benefits do you see? If you thought it was worth it, would you mind dropping a few more tips how you went about it?

Like you, I won't leave Viper, but I'm having terrible random reboot issues. Maybe this would fix it... Currently upping the voltage. Now on +15mV, 18 hrs without reboot. Best in weeks. (Viper 3.2.7 with Elemental, cfq, ondemand)

You might want to try disabling Xloud. On my phone the speaker crackles when it is enabled.

Try ruu so your system is fresh and your files are correct.. Then reroot your phone and see if it's your phone that's the issue and not just jellybean or any of the roms that are out that are the issue.

Battery issues!!!

So I had JB 4.1.1 on stock at&t ROM with 3.18 firmware, it was rooted, s-off and bootloader unlocked by mobiletechvideos. I flashed Venom XL 3.2.7 and had a poor battery life i.e. 5 hrs on 100% being idle. Then I flashed an older radio and flashed back the newer 3.14 (latest) one but to no avail same issue. Then I went ahead and also flashed bulletproof kernal that this might just work! BUT nope same thing. I am still having this poor battery life of less than 5 hrs on 100% battery being idle.

Then I flashed my phone again, wiping everything off. Flashed the radio first, then ROM and then bulletproof , still having the same battery problem. Please note: I dont have any applications installed on my phone. The apps are only the default ones.

Please if anyone can help me out here it'll be great!!!

This does sound radio related. Have you check the radio thread to ensure you have the recommended radio for your area? There is a google maps link in the radio thread to help pick the right radio.

    Q: How do I install the rom?!
    A: (Thanks to anarchychris for putting these together)

    ViperXL Install Instructions

    1. Download the the latest ViperXL full ROM zip from the download section
    2. Place the file somewhere on your phone storage
    3. Confirm the MD5 on the download page matches the MD5 of the file on your phone (ES File Explorer will show the MD5 of the file)
    4. Reboot to TWRP Recovery
    5. Backup current ROM if desired
    6. Install ROM using TWRP and select wipe during aroma install if coming from another base
    7. If you have 1.14 hboot you may need to flash the boot.img in fastboot (ViperXL is fastboot 1.14 friendly but in some cases you will need to manually install the Boot.img). You will need to extract the Boot.img from the ROM zip.
    8. Reboot and Enjoy
    You can flash the boot.img before or after flashing the rom. It works either way.

    Q: I have a problem with the ROM (FC, Boot Loop, apps closing automatically). How can I get my problem resolved?
    A: First things first. Try wiping data and replicating the issue:
    • Rebooting into Recovery
    • Perform a Nandroid backup (of just Data if you wish)
    • Flash the ROM and select the option to "Wipe Data"
    • Try replicating the issue

    If the problem persists, capture a logcat and send it to me.

    To capture a logcat, If you have fastboot setup, you already have the drivers installed and probably already have adb.exe in the same folder as fastboot.exe:

    • Open the Command Prompt (run it as Administrator if UAC is enabled in Windows)
    • run adb logcat >c:\logcat.txt
    • If it's just not booting, let it run for about 20 seconds. If it's a FC, replicate the FC in this step
    • Press Control-C to stop logging
    • Paste the contents of c:\logcat.txt into http://pastebin.com
    • Post the link here with the problem being experienced
    • Hopefully, I'll have a fix available (assuming I'm not too busy) that others can benefit from.


    Q: Whats the md5 sum thing?
    A: It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completly to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.

    Q: I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
    A: It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that dont clearly state, that they are compatible with our rom. Thems/Mods always use framework files which will brake mods/stuff in our rom.

    Q: My question is not listed here, what to do?
    A: Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you cant find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:

    Q: My media (pictures, music, etc.) is not listed in the Gallery/HTC Music/etc.
    A: Try rescanning your SDCARD by using an app such as Media Scanner
