HTC Desire gingerbread OTA rolling out end July MAYBE!!!

Hi all,

the 2.3 gingerbread update is rolling out now! with sense 2.1!

NOTE: 2.3 IS ROLLING OUT VIA IMEI, SO IF YOU HAVE A BRANDED PHONE, BUT YOU UNBRANDED IT, YOU WONT GET THE UPDATE!!

confirmation:

Dries: Hi Nick, thank you for contacting customer support from HTC. Currently I am just to read your question.

Dries: It has recently begun rolling out but that happens, however, using the IMEI number. It is not known exactly when your device's turn but when it does, you will automatically offer the update OTA.

Nick : Okay! that's good news, but on the Facebook page of HTC is that he has not yet rolled out?

Dries: The Facebook page has yet to be updated.

Nick : Ah okay, but I'm talking about the old desire, not the desire Z

Dries: Yes, Desire of the wounded.

Dries: I apologize, I meant regular

Nick : Haha okay, and do you know which version of Sense's on?

Dries: This is version 2.1

if you have a branded phone, but unbranded it, the update wont work cause its rolling out via IMEI!!

Might be true, although I wouldnt be too hasty with putting a confirmed stamp onto it. Especially if this information comes from customer support...

My Desire was bought off the shelf, so is unbranded, however it IS rooted (although I haven't done anything with the root access)

Does this mean I'll still get the update?

Will this affect memory available?

I keep on checking for updates refreshing every hour my device.
The first lucky guy let's informe all the others.

they said they will be pushed to phones by IMEI, so it will take time to get yours..

We will wait for.our turn.
But till then we need a first look and some answers from someone that already has the update.
For example which version of sense is delivered and with / without cut applications.

When HTC put message on FB that GB is officialy out then he is out, otherwise this is just another troll thread.

the guy from support said, the FB page needs to be updated.. but the desire Z 2.3 was rolled out 4 days earlier in holland then eveery other country,. so

Its not exactly a troll thread but yeah we must stop believing the Customer Support one day...

On a side note, didnt we use to have a direct link to the RUU's on the official HTC website? I guess thats the only way to find out if we can grab the update without waiting for the whole rollout process to unfold...
