on GB Miui ROM I had 4 volume sliders in sound settings
on ICS only 3
any chance to see separate notification volume control on ICS MIUI?

+1

Is there a way to unlink the phone ringtone from notifications?

When I go to bed, I turn the volume down on all but the phone ringtone (my company runs 24/7). Problem is, since the notification and phone ringtones are linked, I have to either also hear my work and Gmail notices as well as a potential phone call, or turn off the whole smash. This is kind of a deal breaker for me. :-(

What's the deal with the compass? Would love it if I could that thing working...seems like it's always been wonky.

Will I need to factory reset coming from 9.8? It just becomes a hassle to restore everything and my settings and stuff everytime theres an update. Not that its not worth it for this ROM but if i can avoid that it would be awesome.

just make a cache wipe, to avoid any conflict from the previous version.

but if you're worry about FULL WIPE & getting the apps managed after flashing the rom. Just use WeUi(Stock) system backup, it will backup all of your settings,theme,desktop arrangement including your gmail.

Working on new v1.5 based on latest miui update (with a lot of improvements and fixes), new bootanimation and a new WeUI updater app which will hopefully work.

guyz, I'm having a derp moment |: how do you set the default homescreen on the launcher?

Do a 3 finger pinch in the launcher and you will see the screen where you can choose the default homescreen...and, don't feel bad, it took some time for me to figure out that it even existed.

That seems sort of backwards to me. In miui gingerbread, long press a blank spot on the homescreen to add widgets; pinch to change the order and the default homescreen. Now we got pinch to add a widget AND press/hold blank spot on the homescreen to add a widget?

The v1.0 has been pretty great for me on icyglitch, no random resets but battery life hasn't been too great. It also seems the chinese Miui devs are going to End Of Life the Captivate :mad:

That means no more offical miui builds for the Captivate (stopping at Gingerbread). We'll still get roms from other devs who work to port offical builds onto the Captivate. Thanks Nightshack0!

is there a way to make the screen turn on faster while in call (when moving the phone away from our ears)? its annoying to have to wait for the screen to turn on so i can end the the call / get someone's number / any other use of the phone while in call .. another thing that would be great is that the screen turns on faster when pressing the lock button

Nightshack,

How does the end of life announcement for MIUI Captivate affect this rom?

Thanks for the time put into this, it has brought life back to my captivate.

It seems as though there may be issues with GPS functionality. My unit will connect and then go into search for GPS signal after a few moments when using Google Nav. Anyone besides me having issues?

Thanks!

End of life for the captivate won't change anything with regards to this rom from nightshack. This rom is ported from the Nexus S rom released from the china miui dev team and translated by MiuiAndroid.

Widgetsoid has a switcher bar and it apparently can unlink ringer and notification volume.

widget CANNOT unlink (it shows separated buttons, but only shows) because widget is only visual control for system functions
i use slider widget with same result

combined notification and rington volume - ICS system "feature"

    v2.0 (Full ROM)
    http://android.gcfam.net/devs/NightShack0/weui/WeUI_v2.0_by_NightShack0.zip

    (Please donate as a thanks for the ROM and what I have done)

    To install properly and avoid any problem follow these steps:

    Coming from Gingerbread
    1. Reboot to recovery
    2. Open/flash the WeUI zip file you downloaded on recovery
    3. On the installer choose your device, and select "Data Wipe"
    4. Select "Install Now"
    5. Your device will reboot to recovery at the start of the installation (if you get a recovery bootloop or it doesn't reboot to recovery, do it manually)
    6. Open the WeUI zip file again from recovery
    7. The installation will continue where it left off and finish by itself
    8. Reboot

    Coming from another ICS ROM
    1. Reboot to recovery
    2. Open/flash the WeUI zip file you downloaded on recovery
    3. On the installer choose your device, and select "Data Wipe"
    4. Select "Install Now"
    5. Reboot

    Updating from older WeUI
    1. Reboot to recovery
    2. Open/flash the WeUI zip file you downloaded on recovery
    3. On the installer choose your device, and select "Cache Wipe" (if coming from certain old WeUI versions you will need Data Wipe)
    4. Install it
    5. Reboot

    720p recording isnt working for me! Why?!
    It should be working without any changes, but if you see this happen, flash http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1575485 and report that it didn't work at first.

    I found a bug or problem in your ROM, what should I do?
    Try to read the thread for possible solutions, and if you can't find anything, then post the problem without complaining and try to describe as much as you can the problem and when it happened, etc. Please use the "Report MIUI" option if you experience a force close which will open the "WeUI Feedback app" and it will automatically add the logcat information of that force close, but please describe your problem and don't just send the log. (Most logs will be ignored if you don't describe your problem)

    Some theme elements are not getting changed!!
    Right now only certain things work on themes like lockscreen, icons, etc. But other stuff doesn't get themed or doesn't look right, this is a thing that MIUI will fix in an upcoming release

    Why is there a Torch app? Galaxy S devices don't have a LED flash!
    I know there's no LED flash, but the Torch is not an app and can't be deleted that easily, it's on the System UI and can't figure out how to do it correctly

    An Update:
    The ROM hasn't stopped, I just gave myself some free time because I was really busy this last 2 weeks, v1.5 will come out soon, sorry for the delay
    15
    Alright then, I just started working again on this ROM today after quite some time (like 3 months) from where I left off on an unreleased v1.5 version which included some new stuff.

    I actually tried working on it a month ago but it didn't boot at all so I just abandoned it.

    Just got it booting and fixing some stuff and getting ready for new release, and hopefully getting back to constantly updating it :)

    No ETA, though.
    13
    Current problems with v2.0:
    -Camera FCing
    -Updater app needs to be configured
    -Browser Google search broken [MIUI problem, but fixable]

    As soon as I fix those I'll upload it... :p

    BTW, it's now multi-language
    11
    v0.9.5 (NEEDS Data wipe, if upgrading from older WeUI, back up your apps if you need to in the included "MIUI Backup" and your settings)

    * Updated to MIUI 2.4.6
    * Device detection in the installer
    * Many installer fixes/changes
    * Installing from Gingerbread now works (if you get a kernel bootloop, reboot to recovery and open again, it will continue where it left off)
    * Updated completely to Android 4.0.4
    * Binaries and other files updated to CM9 Nightly
    * Fix many problems from last version
    * Gmail, Exchange, and other FCs fixed
    * Updated Semaphore to latest 0.9.8 version (Captivate and Galaxy S) with the 720p recording patch
    * Updated Apex Launcher
    * Updated MI File Manager (fixes FTP FC and adds/fixes features)
    * Removed init.d script for low storage which caused slow launching of apps and other problems
    * Replaced keyboard with stock CM9 keyboard and removed unneeded Dictionary Pack
    * SuperSU ICON changed to Permission Manager
    * Vibrant kernel fix again
    * Fixed Vibrant GPS
    * Misc fixes/changes

    Been working on this update, sorry for being late but I was having some serious problems in the ROM because 2.4.6 changed some stuff on the ROM and also updating it to 4.0.4, etc.

    Will upload tomorrow
