I keep getting this "FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))" error message when I do the following with a Rom?

Davids-MacBook-Air:desktop millhhaus$ fastboot flash boot cm-10.2.1-m7ul.zip
target reported max download size of 1830711296 bytes
sending 'boot' (198067 KB)...
OKAY [ 6.904s]
writing 'boot'...
FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))
finished. total time: 6.905s

Are you flashing the boot or a full Rom? Looks you are trying to flash a zip into the boot partition, it should be an image.
If that's a Rom zip install it via custom recovery.
Also that Rom looks like it's Cyanogenmod 10 for the M7 not the M8.

Why are you trying to flash an M7 file on the M8 ? **Davids-MacBook-Air:desktop millhhaus$ fastboot flash boot cm-10.2.1-m7ul.zip

You're gonna end up with a nice HTC Paperweight due to you not reading properly.

SO many issues with the OP that it'll probably end up with a nice M8-shaped paperweight unless they read up a bit more! :D

Most of the posts above should sort you out but trying to flash a CM ZIP in fastboot and trying to flash it over the boot partition is such a huge a no-no I'd stop right now...

    @EddyOS Ahem... :p
    @millhhaus Go buy an M7 and try that.You might get a new flagship (2013) paperweight :p
    Are you trying to flash a rom in fastboot?It dosen't makes sense.
    To flash rom you should try a custom recovery like TWRP etc :angel:
