---------- Post added at 09:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:00 AM ----------

please someone reply how to i shutdown my phone

if i am making downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2
which option should i select for flash tool

system , kernel, baseband, uncategorised , fota, partition, ta

please reply urgently

Azhar

I tried a couple of times (downgrade to 257 "kernel" only) and always getting into a bootloop at startup (sony logo repeating) - the flash seems successful.
Each time I managed to power off and re-flash with the 266 kernel to recover.

Edit: my mistake. when I had flashed the 257 kernel, I was supposed to reboot the device in debugging mode (press vol-up while connecting the USB cable - instead I mistakenly tried to reboot XSP normally] - still when it came to using the exploit v18, the program hang ('device not connected')

yes, C5306 works on different bands than C5303 and that means that you will have to find a suitable ftf to flash, do you want the 4.1 ftf?

Yes, because this new 4.3 upgrade is terrible.... to play a game i must charge the phone at same time, and even so, the battery drains faster than charges.
If you can provide a 4.1 link, i appreciate.

And a step by step would be great, as I'm a rookie on these matters

My phone has a locked bootloader (and can't be unlocked)

Thanks in advance

if you using 0.266 firmware try to upgrade it to 1.201 it might solve ur issue but if u didn't satisfied with what u get
u have to download a 4.1.2 .ftf file and flash it with flash tools (there are instructions to how to use it)
remember to get 5302 rom
warranty won't void unless u unlock ur bootloader ot give them ur device rooted and none of them needed for ur case

1) download this ftf https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B986...hIMmJnWW8/edit ( thanks to @CorePrideX8 )
2) download the flashtool from here http://www.flashtool.net/download.php or https://unrestrict.li/flashtool
3) install the flashtool and navigate to the folder where flashtool was installed
3)open "drivers" folder and install the last 2(flashmode and fastboot)
4)transfer the downloaded ftf to the folder "firmwares"
5)open flashtool and press the thunder button..then choose flashmode
6)you will see the firmware on the left, choose it and press the flash button..wait until a message pop up saying to connect your phone
7)turn the phone off and while pressing the volume down button connect the usb(the illumination bar will light green)

On your guide, the part 3 is a little confuse for me.
That means to install what?
On step 3, there's nothing like that on the "last 2" items that look like flash mode or flash tool...
Also , on that tab, doesn't appear the option for Xperia SP

I think your phone will reboot without flashing the firmware because your pc will install the drivers..in order to install it repeat the step 7 :p
    Hope it helps..

Yes. It's a pain in the buttocks because the apps will suddenly freeze or it won't let me read my texts or answers calls. I'm only concerned about the future upgrade to KitKat or the warranty.

Im also looking to downgrade my phone from 4.3 to 4.1, I have the FTF and i'm ready to do it, but i was wondering what people recommend for backing up messages and call logs without root? (locked bootloader - can be unlocked but want bravia engine!)

Before updating to 4.3, i took a backup of my apps, call logs, messages...everything in the Sony PC Companion - Backup and Restore program, but once I had updated to 4.3, the backup would not restore properly and apps wouldn't reinstall, is this because of the change in android version? I came from Generic UK .254 for my C5303 and i used the C5303 Central European 1 .266 to upgrade. Im hoping that once i flash the original .254 ftf, the backup will restore properly right?

I just dont want to lose any text messages or call logs, helps me keep track of myself :p

yes, it's the different android version..you will be able to restore with 4.1..next time use titanium backup to backup apps and its data, sms, wifi, call log, bookmarks.

and If Sony published a newer update either 4.4 or anything else, will we be able to install it simply through PC Companion like 4.3 ? or we will have to do other things like those ^flashtool, tft and others ? :D
    Thanks :)

if you don't unlock your bootloader you will still be able to install a newer android version via ota or pc companion
